  • Pet Peeves and Funny Shiznit Thread

Something I find annoying is when a new Harry Potter movie comes out, occasionally one or two people will ask me "Did you read the book?"

    ---

As far as things that make me laugh, #1 in my book is something I can't get out of my mind. I saw a very fat lady at McDonald's take a sip of her drink, make a funny face and spray it all over the place and yell "Eeewww, it's diet."

    That was worth a picture.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

My 60 year old mother reads harry potter. She reads a lot of books and says the HP series is actually a good read.

What books do you read Baker?

I am not a frequent book reader (except the stacks of PHP/CSS/Javascript books I have hanging around). I usually do a lot of reading on the internet on things that interest me, and often will get obsessed about something in particular and research it until nothing more is out there to be known.

In particular, I've been big into the astronomy, the origin of life, biology and energy sources, economics, social systems, philosophy.

If I only had more patience ...

(btw, good fiction is probably the highest form of human expression)

Honestly I doubt the average 12 year old gets as much out of the HP books as the older readers do... and I say that as someone who has read them all and knows readers of it over twice my age. It is honestly relevant to ask if youve read the books because the movies have to cut SO much to make for time that it can really mess with the flow of story and sometimes causes you to guess what happened in between.

The only time I've ever really been able to complete any book is like spending 3 days back-back-back reading it.

The biggest pet peeve of mine on the Internet is people who don't write in proper English... I don't mean people who aren't familiar with the language but I'm referring to those kiddies who think they are l33t by shortening spellings of words, using "u" or "b4" or whatever. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. An occasional phrase like that is tolerable, but when you have someone writing paragraphs of information like that just gets on my nerves. Not sure why but it does lol

lol like when I was talking to you and asked "do u have trillian 2?" I meant trillian "too" lol. I never spell right when talking on instant messenging.

I have read all of the HP books. They are quite good. Can't wait for the last one to come out.

Steve, I agree 100%. That's one I can do without.

The other one that stands out is:

Them: "Oh, did you get a hair cut?"
Me: No, it just looks like that.

                  /walks off shaking his head.

I will find you... it's only a matter of time.

I'm not asking you to change the way you do things, nor do I look down on you for it. It's just a peeve.

I knew you were. I just wanted to make myself clear.

Some people tend to jump to conclusions, you do not. No harm done.
