I ended up looking up "Six Flags" at Wikipedia mostly because I wanted to see how many accidents they had (heheh), like that one girl that lost both her feet on a ride earlier this year.

I went there and I saw this under "Criticism and Controversy"

Although Six Flags claims that whoever works there will have a positive experience and make new friends, however, in some cases many employees who work there will not respect other employees if they do not already know them from high school or college.Furthermore the management has applied tons of sanctions on conduct, such as no possesion of cellphones while onstage,no wallets, must sign in at least 6 minutes early or is considered late, which in turn results in discipline or termination of employment, minimum wage violations intentionally putting some employees in the position to get fired, among others have led many to believe that the park has a conservative stance towards its employees.
Haha, some 13-year-old had to have thought that was a good place to voice to his or her complaints about working there. Funny stuff.

5 minutes later I reloaded the page and it was gone.

Consequentially, there are like 20-30 serious accidents I saw on a page dedicated to accidents at Six Flags.

My brother and I were talking about this yesterday. I've never been to a Six Flags and don't really know the first thing about them other than the accidents. Being in Ohio, we have 2 rather kick ass amusement parks (Cedar Point, Kings Island) so there isn't really a need to go anywhere else.

I love the concept of Wiki's, a lot of wisdom can be found in large groups of contributors. On the flip side, you have this kid who felt like he didn't fit in and most likely listens to bands like Simple Plan.

Maybe we need an NQ Wiki similar to QWDrama's Quakeworld Wiki?

    I'm famous!

I live in Cali and have been in Six Flags 3 or 4 times. It's fun, especially if you like adrenaline rushes and thrills. I'll go there again, but it's not something I would do every weekend.
It's always a good day when you get laid...

Yes, we do need a wiki based on the needs of this community.

A who's who's, a what's what, client features/settings, how to setup this/that, configure a server, where to get mods for servers, etc.

At one point I was discussing this and someone floated the idea of using the Quake Wiki, but that just wouldn't work.

I went to the Six Flags in San Antonio back when it was owned by another company and called "Fiesta Texas".

I never braved the Rattler (wooden rollercoaster). Wanted to last time but it shut down early since it was late.

60% [or more than half if you want to be completely accurate] of wikipedia's info is incorrect due to people messing with it.

I think it is funny some of the oddball stuff you find in Wikipedia entries from time to time.

Some article on valium used to have some reference that some character in Metal Gear Online uses/used valium.

It seems that wikipedia has a lot of content by kids and geeks, not that there is anything wrong with that. A disproportionate number of irrelevant citations/content can be found and sometimes things that are way over-technical in an inappropriate way for what the article is about.

I would say they have managed to clean up Wikipedia greatly within about the last year, I'd say.

Either way, I like reading wikipedia because it is so easy to find high quality information on obscure topics and it a lot of niche things (astronomy, physics, etc.) tends to be very up-to-date.

"On July 11, 2007, park employees confronted a 37-year-old man who was acting suspiciously with a video camera. San Antonio police were called, and he was arrested for allegedly secretly videotaping young girls at the water park. He was charged with improper photography or visual recording, or taping someone without consent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of a person."

Good, so the Six Flags I went to is fairly safe. This is the only thing that happened according to Wiki

I added a quakeone link to the quake page on wikipedia

also, there's an interesting page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped..._Systemic_Bias
about wikipedia bias--how the users self-select and so the content is slanted. They say the average wikipedian is likely male, technically-inclined, formally educated, english speaking, white, aged 15-49, from a christian country, from an industrialized country, from the northern hemisphere, and more likely to be empjoyed in intellectual pursuits than in practical skills or physical labor.

it results in strange things like the article on torture tends to dwell on the relatively few (but well documented) cases of abuse in Israel, the United Kingdom, United States, conducted during their foreign wars and incursions, and to a lesser extent those by other western democracies, while ignoring the widespread and systematic abuses which take place in countries where information about torture is not widely available to English-speaking Wikipedians. Another example: the article on the Second Congo War, the deadliest conflict in the past 60 years, is shorter than that on the Falklands War, with a death toll of under a thousand.

so, the problem with user-generated content systems is that the technology imposes limitations on who can contribute. still, though, its better than having one editor calling all the shots, and the people only contributing by either buying or not buying his publication

I've been to the Great America in Texas (not the one QR is talking about) Missouri, and Illinios. In a park that size there is bound to be accidents. Plenty of them. Did you know that alot of these amusement parks import workers in because our children don't want to work? Yup.. I know for a fact they do here in Illinois and up in the Dells in Wisconsin. Anyway back to Accidents I remember when any news of Air Traffic was rare to hear. For a time and I think it was somewhere shortly before the Air traffic controllers strike there was nothing but announcements. For some time after the same.. Now amusement parks run the same gambit. The larger you are the more news you will have. There isn't a park around that is 100% safe. I'm sure there have been accidents at your parks Baker. Maybe Wini just didn't get wind of them. Or they were settled quickly. Maybe they will learn that the more publicity the more $$$ to get you to shut up. I love Great America and take my daughter there 2-3 times during the summer.. Once just for the water park and then we can't miss Fright Fest can we? lol. There are some rides I will NOT let her on. The Accident Logic is just overbearing! Like the water tornado thingy.. Oh yeah.. she gets mad at me. But she's a Bunji Jumper.. ha. something I could never manage to do.

ps.. I have to send her with a friend on half that crap.. Can't do Roller Coasters!!
