I didn't get a chance to watch those (winter sucks!) when they were out and rented them and was blown away by both of those.
I wanted to watch Live Free or Die Hard, but didn't get around to that so I guess I'll have to wait on that.
From what I can tell, you like the organized crime genre and it's true little to nothing along those lines has been released this year.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

It just so happened that most of the "good" movies from the mid 90's are crime dramas.
BTW, my friend told me about Disturbia and said it was the god-awful worst movie he's seen. lol.

Within 10 minutes I was very pleased.
Grindhouse was by far the best movie to watch this year.
I guess I'm saying even if it borderline sucks somehow, I can usually find an angle of the production/storyline/creativity that makes it worthwhile.

Hehe, I borderline hate the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (had to see Dead Man's Chest against my will a couple months back) so for every great movie out there, there is going to be someone who doesn't like it.

I liked Disturbia (especially since I got to see it free).
I also saw 300 and was also blown away.
Live Free or Die Hard was really good too, I was suprised because I didn't expect a whole lot out of it.
I also got to see Harry Potter 5, which was decent.
I missed a lot of stuff though, including the ATHF movie, Grindhouse, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Shrek 3, Spiderman 3, and Fantastic Four 2. Let's just say I couldn't find the time to see them, although I would have loved to go see them all.

I'm lost, what's ATHF? lol
Just saw Fracture and The Number 23 yesterday (rented these) and they were entertaining.
And Baker - I have no interest in seeing the Pirates of the Caribbean movies either. I still haven't seen them and don't plan to.
One genre of movie I really don't care for is the superhero/comic book movies like Fantastic Four, Superman, Batman, blah... the original Batman was ok but other than that any other comic book turn movie I either hated or had no interest to see.
