While there has been much discussion as far as cheating in games such as quake it should serve as nothing but an analogy for every aspect of our lives our society is built on pure competitiveness and fairness or a level playing field has never been a part of the equation wether its high level bankers/investors, politicians, baseball players, or gamers the same rules or lack there of apply to everyone if you dont have the blood lust required to survive in this game of life and use any means to gain an advantage you simply are passed over by someone else who does its hard not to be cynical nowadays im interested to hear what peoples views are on the power structures we live under and how we should go about handing out our most precious commodity... trust

Most people who live by that attitude (as opposed to just talking it) eventually end up in jail or fired for theft

Then their job applications are "passed over"

Then they live in the poor part of town and tell everyone else that "life is a lottery" when it was actually a choice.

There are some "corrupt" people at the top. But most of them were somehow born into it and had a lot of connections early on.

I don't think money is a very good indicator. Or even looking at the top.

Fake friends, people who treat you nice to your face but lie behind your back, people who will steal from you, people out to sabotage you ...

The difference is, you're essentially playing video games for nothing but you still cheated.

Baseball players, government officials, etc. have stakes on the line.

What many cheaters did with Quake simply diminished the game, and many of you were in denial about it.

The question is, if cheating is justified by your statement, then why would you have denied it for so long previously when you were accused?

Edit: cheaters take away what is given by natural skill for the game

Well, cheating in life, there is something to gain from it, but it's super gay and if society finds out that you cheated them, you're gonna get your ass kicked one way or another.

Cheating in a video game is super ultra mega homo erectus gay. There is absolutely nothing to gain from it, unless you consider gain being either winning with a fake, cheated score, or getting people pissed off at you.

I think cheating mostly robbed the trust of the game.
whether a player lost his ego by abusing hacks, or whether a valid vet decided it wasnt worth the fight. quake lost players.

this is why i liked ctf alot. cause, if the mofo can hook like TD you know he's gonna hurt ya like BlackKnight...

Yeah nothing is more valued than pride or ego specially in this silly game. so yeah rampgayge you have the most inflated quake ego of anyone that was kind of my point I was in no way trying to justify cheating I was just saying it seems to be the norm nowadays in EVERYTHING... like how can you even trust your CPA or investment advisor... I cheated in quake. I still cheat in many aspects of my life to benefit or uphold anything relevant to the one rather than having avenues availible that can benefit even in some small way the whole that may show future returns at some point. My point was how do you hand out trust? What credentials have meaning when your giving someone complete trust? How do you make that kind of judgement in this climate? That was my question nothing to do with games or any of that tomfoolery.

It doesn't have to do with games yet in your own statement you mentioned cheating in video games.

That statement is giving merit to why cheating should be socially accepted, because we're all pressured to achieve a higher standard, and if we don't cheat, someone else will.

Cheaters never prosper and always get caught - sooner or later - and live like scared dogs.

Beware guyz, rip-off scams are at highest incidence nowadays. Never send money to anybody or give out your cc#s over these Internetz. Jobs supposed to pay you, not you to them. In end they get money from you and never give you anything back. Never fall for empty promises and keep your money into your pockets where it belongs.

This is esp. true for desperate job seekers. These thieving scammers will do anything to rob your last coat off your back and thieves steal everything which is not nailed down. Shoo them away like vile creatures that they are!
