I'm listening to a bit of Opeth. And all I can think is, I would actually not mind listening to this (I mean, prog/folk/metal? sounds cool!), if it weren't for one thing:



As soon as the vocals began, I couldn't help but giggle. Death vocals are one of the stupidest things ever invented. But I still love you, scar3crow.

Although some of the better stuff reminds me kind of Diablo's town music . Cool stuff. There ought to be a version with the death vocals cut out. Actually with all the vocals cut out. I can't seriously listen to silly pagan demon fantasy lyrics all day and not go insane.

death metal came after the normal metal sounds of like iron maiden , sabbath,metallica,megadeth,GnR,and even trying to compare "Death Vocals" to bands like Sepultura or PanterA ?Rollinds Band?, is it that hard to believe that a person enjoy's heavy electric guitar ,or even more hardcore bands,but still but dont like bands who carry a tune well with guitars,but overlap it with whats more often words and lyrics that dont resemble the singing ,or growling ,whatever you wanna call it... example : Cannible Corpse.

I personally dont mind this type of metal once in awhile,but as for my opinion about bands like this, very few are actually worth a fuck when it comes down to it,guitars OR the vocals.

Opeth is OK. They aren't heavy enough. Mikael's vocals are awesome as death metal vocals. I don't really care about what the singer sounds like, as long as the voice doesn't overpower the music. I would like metal better without any vocals.

They're riffs aren't that headbanger, except for a few awesome parts. The progressive parts with no electric guitar last long, about 2-3 minutes of the song. I like metal where the guitar is constantly blasting.
