I have Mario kart, And Ryne Sandberg baseball, NHL 94 is pretty Tight,
Also Bomberman is great

it might not be up your alley, but 3 player Secret of Mana with my pals in school has lots of fond memories. Imagine if Legend of Zelda had underpinnings of a RPG (stats, level ups, diff. weapons,) and hints of Final Fantasy (the oldskool final fantasy) Monsters die with a satisfying "Ker-Panmpk" noise like an balloon popped by electricity too.

And the NES version of Street Fighter II. In real life, many think they are good at Street Fighter II; many dreams have been shattered when they play me. I remember a prodigy of Street Fighter II playing me and I beat him with someone gay like Zangief or Dahlsim (Yes, "I will meditate and destroy you!").

Ah, NES emulators! Don't forget the Legend of Zelda.

(Only Street Fighter II is multiplayer, but PunchOut is great beyond imagination; Zelda is historically immortal and therefore important.)

Too bad you are looking for Multiplayer games only. I could recommend a lot of good games, otherwise. I used to collect the actual SNES cartridges (none of this emulator stuff), and still have them all. I've got some of the rarest, including Earthbound, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, FF3, Chrono Trigger, Lufia 2, Secret of Mana, Breath of fire II, Evo, etc. etc.

Super Mario Kart for the SNES was really fun, probably my favorite multiplayer game.

Another great multiplayer game was Metal Warriors.

Lessee..multiplayer...that narrows it a TON. Snes didnt have a lot of great multiplayer.
And I cant think of any that had 4 player except mario kart, superbomberman2 (awesome)
and Ivan Ironmans Super Offroad (baja?).

Actually, after having beaten earthbound on console a few times...I gotta say, replaying it in turbo mode on Zsnes is great! Its awesome on console, but if you want a leisurely stroll through an rpg that you know already, nothing beats turbo mode

Specially for leveling, jesus just walk around in turbo mode, get those AUTO fights where the screen flashes, best kind of leveling there is mwahahahah
