  • Free Internet due to incompetence, lol

Seriously , out of my experience being on broadband connections... AT&T (BellSouth of MS) has to be the shittiest service I've ever had.

I've used Adelphia Cable, before going bust and being bought out by Comcast. I have had Comcast Cable (best ISP to date) and Embarq (aquired Sprint DSL in VA..shitty ping times))

So far I have had AT&T DSL at my current residence since the beginning of this year , and since then I've spent roughly 3mo's trying to resolve intermittent connectivity, and been waiting for over 1mo for them to come and install a permanent line, thats buried underground and not stretched across a couple driveways and the street (Seriously, people drive over my connection 0_O)

I've recieved 3mo so far of free service, if you can even call it service.

    Horrible!!
The best part though, is when I told the guy that I couldnt wait on them any longer,so I mowed my lawn and cut the temporary line they provided into several peices. They are supposedly also checking some sort of radius for availible services, to see if I am capable of recieving the 6mbit down / 768kbps up service. I'm hoping that im in the appropriate radius so I can continue to complain that the services I'm recieving are not adequate when compared to the services being rendered. I personally think im stuck in a loop of Teir 1 newbness.

I can only get Edge with 215kbps down where I live. Not quite broadband speeds, but at least it's uncapped for the moment.

215k down isnt bad if the price reflects the service. I'm paying 47.99/mo for this nonsense. I checked into CableONE today again, last time I inquired about their service area I was presume the lady never even bothered trying to get the information I had requested. I noticed they are offering 10mbit down / 1mbit up for 59.99,which is tempting. like OMG Piracy at warp speed!

        botboy ping times!

The ISP is the most important part but sometimes your location affects your connection speed/reliability. I have Mediacom which is lightning fast at 30$/mo.

So , the technician showed up yesterday morning, set out some road cones... put up his road cones...then left.

It was funny, she was like "Do you mind if I run some test's on your line while I put you on hold?" Told her to go right ahead they've been doing it for 3 months now, whats it going to hurt once more lol.

wow, she killed my net. GOODJOB, I TOLD YOU I WAS ON VOIP you stupid fuck.

                  Haha, Mindzy!

I am currently using AT&T and I have to say that works well for me, but I'm in area where if it didn't, they'd go broke due to the # of people.

I prefer cable to DSL and the only reason I dumped my cable internet was because AT&T gave me an offer lately I couldn't reasonably refuse.

Ya Ive been using at&t since 2000, and while its pretty stable(ping has nothing to do with brute bits per sec), I went from the ol' 1mbit down and 256k up to 3mb down and 768 up. I only get 160kb/s down period. Same speed (2%more), as before. The fine print says between 1.5-3.0. and im less than 1 mile away from the damn company's office!! I can easily get 10mb speed for 100$ from cable. But since im not a pirate hog it doesnt matter anyway...

The phone guy for my landline came out to check a line noise problem. He looked at the cable -- didn't touch anything -- and left. He charged me $80. I got rid of the service the next month and don't own a phone anymore. It's quite peaceful.

Speed really isnt even an issue, its the intermittent internet connection that goes out at any given moment. After 3hrs on the phone this morning with random idiot's I finally found someone able to take care of bidness. One of the lady's asked me if my 2wire modem/router combo was still under warranty, I told her it's not even paid for yet so it better damn well be still under warranty.

So what did I accomplish today? I have a replacement modem being shipped along with RMA label's, and I scheduled Friday to get a permanent line buried.

Although I did get a few laughs today. I kept telling these various tech's on the phone that I am using VOIP , and they turn around and ask me "Can you access the internet right now?" LOL, SERIOUSLY. How the fuck am I going to use a VOIP phone and not be connected to the internet?
