  • hello

Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right section but I just thought I'd introduce myself. I am known as Mobster, and I love to animate and 3d model for quake mods. Right now I'm working on left4quake and a couple others. Please post and tell me what mods you are working on too.

The Quake modders more hang out at Inside3d Forums :: Index

    Although not all of them.

    Welcome to the forums.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Maybe I should sent that as a private message

My post could be read like "hey go to Inside3d" but that wasn't what I meant, but rather I want you to have the maximum amount of resources and knowledge available to you (and experienced modders to give you advice).

Ok I understand. I mostly came here in search of a coder and or texture artist for my mod, but I'll try to be active also. From what I understand, you are the legendary Baker, or best quake coder ever lol. I've heard a lot about you.

Well, legendary just ain't what it used to be

I definitely am not the best Quake coder ever, nor anywhere close. Although I know far more than I used to know and keep trying to learn.

If you want awesome QC coders/mapper, please visit Func_Msgboard: Forum and post your questions in Mapping Help thread.

Please note that I am not saying there are not awesome coders/mappers here

I'd recommend asking that question where at least people with the expertise and willingness you need hang out.

Func_Msgboard: (Very few) QuakeC coders. Elitist expert mappers. So no one who could do QuakeC and that would be willing to do it. Potentially a lot of great advice, very low likelihood of any interest in participating.

Inside3D: Many QuakeC coders, most working on their own mods or in armchair quarterback mode. Very capable and good for advice, very low likelihood of participating.

QuakeOne: A few QuakeC coders but mostly with their own interests. Very low likelihood of any interest in participating.

                  My recommendation:

Nexuiz has a lot of fresh new blood, operates around QuakeC and those with interests in engine coding and texturing.

You might find someone interested at Nexuiz IRC or something.

                  Three heads ups:

                  1) The Nexuiz community is hardcore open source. If your project isn't open source (the game logic AND the engine), your odds of interesting someone there are between 0 and a negative number and you'd get told to --- well, use your imagination.

                  2) Have a game design document if you don't. Make it professional. Show whoever that you have a plan, have set reasonable expectations and that you have a list of things to complete the project.

                  3) Keep control of any drama queens-like individuals in your project if you have any. Drama queens and good teamwork are mutually exclusive things.
