  • OMG... Avatar

So my partner and I and few others went to see Avatar... at the IMAX in 3D....

I thought it was great... the storyline was a little familiar (FernGully) and the concept of the dual life was Matrix'esk... but still good.

It was like FernGully meets StarCraft meets Matrix...

3 hours long... about 2/3rds through the movie my eyes were tired from the special glasses.

At risk of sounding like a total fan-boy.... All the jumping around from the people of Pandora and the Terran MechWarriors... I was like... that's me! Quake! That's me!

When I am in CA, I love the feeling of flying from RJ off walls and nooky places to nail people.

I saw the movie over the weekend, and yea it definitely was cool. My gf who hates sci-fi and especially Quake and other video games even liked it. The effects were un-real - I couldn't tell the difference between the CGI and real sets - at ALL. Reminded me of Crysis

I saw the movie in 3D, not IMAX though, it's truly incredible.

If there is one movie you should have seen in IMAX it's Dark Knight, I blew a load.

Yes, both stories are similar. Sounds like you think I am insinuating something.

from all the bad reviews of people that say this movie is bunk from rotten tomatoes and other review sites, you guys have changed my mind about going to see it maybe ill give it a chance. words of the wise you cant let other people decide things for you before you get a chance to decide for yourself.

Alas, no IMAX or 3D theaters within hundreds of miles of me. Ah well, I'll get high and download the cam. Same thing.

I want to see this movie mostly because it has received a lot of positive reviews and the director put a ton of effort into it.

I usually try to avoid all information about a movie I think I will watch because I prefer to go in knowing nothing, although for about the last year I've read articles on this movie off and on.

Oddly enough, one of the reasons I initially read so much about this movie is due to the name similarity between "Avatar" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender", the latter I am curious about how well it can translate from a cartoon / "American anime" to real life actors.

The main reason I may not see Avatar so soon is the length and seriously I have some Quake stuff I want to wrap up and it's not a short list.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
