i never claimed to know a lot about anything, but i thought i knew a little about everything... this HDR photography is amazing, that restaurant one is sweet... I really want to get into this type of photography, is it just a camera feature a lot like the panoramic feature?"When I was your age, we used to rocket jump all the way to school, up hill both ways - IN BOILING LAVA!"

Hahah.
Not at all. It can be done with any decent camera, really. An extremely helpful feature to have though, is auto exposure bracketing, or AEB. It will automatically take three (or sometimes more) differently exposed pictures for you once you set it to. Then you can just merge and tone map them using a program like Photomatix, which is what I use. A tripod/place to set the camera on is pretty useful too, since all three pictures should be exactly the same.Originally posted by rev View Posti never claimed to know a lot about anything, but i thought i knew a little about everything... this HDR photography is amazing, that restaurant one is sweet... What kind of camera are you using?

I remember reading about how HDR rendering works for video games, it was pretty much to that effect. Something about how the frame would be rendered more than once to produce the light effect...Originally posted by Mass View PostNot at all. It can be done with any decent camera, really. Yeah, you'll find it on most any camera. I wouldn't be surprised if your results come out extremely grainy, though. I'd recommend trying it in a well lit area first.Originally posted by rev View Postneat, my cheap little hp r817 has the bracket thing with 3 pics and all, looks like i need the software for merging and tone-mapping...

<- More of a test than anything, and not a true HDR.
