Computer issue

So I suck with computers, My desktop sounds like its starting but nothing happens, the fans are running but it wont do anything.. Whats going on? please help as i told naustic i would start quaking again but my desktop just stopped working tonight love having a lappy as well!

you say you hear the desktop start with no display? sounds like the gfx card is dead, dieing, or not plugged in good.

Try it in another box would be the best route.

No Boot but fans could actually mean alot of possible problems. MOBO could be short'n. Power Supply could not be supply'n. CPU could not be computin'n. RAM could not be memor'n, or as mentioned the GPU may not be graphix'n.

check the monitor cord is firmly plugged in, start small.

don't want it to just have had a loose cable $200 later

Test the monitor on another box, just to make sure that's not the issue. If the monitor works, try re-seating the graphics card (and making sure everything else is connected firmly... a half-ass connection can stop the computer from booting, even if all the parts are good). If that fails, try your onboard video (if you have it). Then, start picking aprart your RAM... try each individual stick by itself, in each slot. Could be a dead slot or a dead stick.
