Air rage: Is reclining your seat a right? - CNN.com

I don't know how some of you feel and maybe it is a biased decision based on your size.

I for one, CAN NOT STAND reclining seats in airplanes. I use to get fucking furious if someone tried reclining in front of me. 1st off, being 6'3 with long legs, i barely have room to begin with, so when someone reclines their seat i am forced to either spread my legs into the people next to me and into the isle, or fold my feet under my chair and cross my feet.

So i choose neither and will sit there with my knees together, which my knees already touch the seat without it being reclined. Thus they cant recline it. They try for about 2 minutes then give up. Sometimes they turn around looking at me like wtf is going on but i just tell them, should have bought first class.

Which is funny because that applies to me as well. So now that i am older and more patient i tend to look at things differently. I no longer blame the person in front of me. Like all things, human nature, if it is possible to do, someones going to do it.

The problem lies within the airlines. I am sure ages ago this seemed like a great idea but it is flawed and needs to be fixed.

    Here is my solution:

Local non-transcontinental/trans-country flights need to have planes with non reclining chairs. I don't care if you worked all day and flew 3 times, you can sit up in a chair for 1-4 hours. They make those head things now that will keep your head from falling to the side when you go to sleep.

All flights that are out of country/continent, can have the reclining chairs because those planes are larger and already have more room in between the chairs.

Or they can just determine this by the average hours a flight takes. 1-4 hours, no recline.

The reality is, air travel really sucks. From A-Z. It is a horrible experience from the beginning to the end.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

I sleep on the fold-out table thats attached to the persons chair in front of me. I get this odd sensation when im waking up that im back in highschool,ahhh...The good ole days. GOODGAME!

Has anyone ever had that problem where, if you don't "yawn" correctly to adjust the pressure in your ears/head,it leaves you with a "OMG MY HEADS GONNA FUCKIN EXPLODE" feeling.

Wow, maybe I just don't fly enough and the novelty of the experience of being in the air hasn't worn off yet, but I love to fly. Always have. I've flown commercial and private. Though admittedly the last time i flew commercial i was 14. Either way, someone reclining in front of you, security checks and every single other con you can think of about flying is pretty much forgiven when you consider the alternative. Hell, even a 6 hour drive in an Escalade isn't comparable to a 45/min-1/hr. flight.

Oddly enough though, I enjoy long road trips too, but I'm odd and thoroughly enjoy traveling, of any variety. Hell I don't even have to see anything special. Just being away from the comfort zone and the mundane cycle of life is, in itself, a pleasure to me. If all I see is corn and tobacco fields (most common in the region I reside), you can bet I appreciated every second of it.
