Lol, nerd porn? Never heard that before. I grew up reading the marvel comics in the 70-80's and never found reading them uninteresting. Favorite was Iron man, and Captain America. But yea, this movie looks like it is way out of the normal marvel theme of the original Thor. In the comics, Thor is a super hero / Demi god that is channeled through a regular meekly (nerdy) doctor, called Dr. Blake in our real world. I never read Thor too much by itself as a sole comic, but he did join the avengers, and became a regular member there. This actor playing Thor is no where near the size of Thor in actual height, but at least he has some musculature....didnt hear any kind of Norse accent though. The Thor comic has all his words saying: hath, dost, wilst ....I guess its asking too much to be true to the original with marvel these days. Got to cut expenses somehow.

Have to keep in mind that there are various versions of each Marvel character. Mainly the "normal" and then the "Ultimate" version.
Kinda how Nick Fury is white in normal and in the Ultimate universe he's black. How Venom is a alien symbiote but in Ultimate it was a scientific experiment.
Could be like that, you may of read the opposite version the movie is based upon. However either or I was never a fan of the Thor character. He would be great in his OWN universe but he just doesn't fit with the other characters (in the Marvel universe) in my opinion.

Guy they got looks like a moron, Doesn't seem like his acting is good, and Most of marvel is fucking stupid as hell except for Iron man. The only thing I liked about that trailer was Anthony Hopkins being in it.

I'm hoping the Captain America movie next year is good. I'll end up watching Thor on Netflix or something eventually, but I have trouble imagining it working out very well in a movie.

Guy thats playing Thor , same actor who played Captain Kirk in the Star Trek movie. I walked out of that ' star trek ' movie after on 40 minutes in the theater, real disappointed in the casts portrayal of the characters in the original series. Tried too much to modernize them, and when you do that, you take away the original dynamics that made is a success in the first place. Some things are hard to duplicate, and if it cant be done right, its best not doing it at all. If marvel wants solid success, look at how Disney hooked up the new Tron movie to the old. Thats the kind of integration you want.

They tried once before to do Captain America, and it didnt turn out too well. I was greatly surprised at the fantastic four's new success, after they once tried that, and it flopped miserably. I think this time around, the characters acted more like in the comics, where they argued, and sometimes fought each other.
