Maybe it was a revolver. maybe it wasnt, maybe safety was on, maybe it wasnt, maybe a round got chambered, maybe a round was already chambered, maybe it had a hair-trigger.
It's not suicide, its a horrible mistake, can u remember being 11 ? i found my grandpa's biscuit in Israel in like 1991-92, i was just 10-11. It wasnt loaded, all the bullets were next to it in the newspaper, i didnt even consider loading it, but i was thinking, "Cool !, a gun".. haha u shoulda seen how my mom bitched out my grandpa when i told her about the gun, i always KNEW he had sumthin cause of the gun oil spray can he always kept, i knew i'd find it if i looked enuff ! so i was lookin for sumthin i kinda already knew was there... i had time to plan what to do with it, which was gonna be load it up, and go out and shoot a tree... shit didnt happen that way... i pu55ied out and folded the newspaper back up, put the lama away, and went to eat lunch.

Age + Knowledge and Understanding of guns is a huge factor in this.
We can all say "why did he point it at himself" ect
Thing is - did he know it was loaded? Likely not, figured it was safe and fooled around. Misfires happen to even professionals (Brandon Lee from the first Crow movie for example) - to take that information and apply it to a 11yr old child holding a gun.

Well, in my opinion blaming games and movies is blaming one person in paticular.

I'm not saying it was a suicide.

I'm not being disrespectful, this is what annoys me so much. If you find me annoying then IGNORE me instead of starting a fight.

wow, that made no sense, and had nothing to do with my quote, but whatever..
I highly doubt that Ooppee is anywhere near so dense that he would point all blame at video games, he is seeing the bigger picture, you're simply just not seeing it Chris, read between the lines.
Same seems to go for NinjaMonkeyz, he's not trying to shit on u, though he wants to, that remark u made was beyond insensitive, and he's trying to bring that to your attention without starting a fight... Nobody should need to be "ignoring" anyone here... especially when its about something we have NO idea about.. Mindz wanted to spill some emotion here, and prolly does not want it to get picked apart by "Christopher Murphy"....

Yeah not using the movies or games to blame. I am simply stating it does however dampen the knowledge of power a gun has to a YOUNG or uneducated mind.
I've fiddled around many times with things I shouldn't of and got hurt. Even on the simplest things.... I touched a red hot element when I was 7. Do I know it would be hot? Yep. However the FULL understanding of how hot - and the full effect of what it'd do - nope.
This is where games and movies reduce that knowledge. It's highly unlikely the parents took him, shown him the guns and showed him the exact power they have (shooting wood ect). So his firsthand knowledge of a gun - movies/games. Fully hard to explain my point - not blaming the movies or games at all. They are a factor in the big picture of gun education (or lack thereof) to the general (uneducated) public.

It doesn't matter if he was twirling like it a baton , or if he was pretending he's jed clampitt and about to shoot some black gold..... Because someone I loved, one of those youngin's that many times ran up and hugged me has passed on, and it was too early for him to go, from a horrible accident.

Since I no longer live in VA,and the news had to come from the phone... I just wanted to post a reminder about gun safety, and how it's imparitive that we adults make sure this can't happen.

yeah, the thread had swayed a bit off its intended course, but we covered quite a few topics and shit. Hopefully a current gun owner had it pounded home, and was prompted to keep his weapon in a safe instead of keepin it in a drawer or nightstand or whatever.

Guns are utterly beautiful in everyway... its just in the wrong hands, some dont realize what that piece of epuipment can do. Others just dont hold human life with high regards.

I used to have a gun license and this could have been prevented with a trigger lock. Here in Canada to keep guns you have to have a trigger lock and gun safe or locker, that's how strict gun control is here.

That gun is the smoothest gun I have ever shot and the worse is .44 magnum (hate that cowboy gun), every time I shot it it turned the base of my thumb purple from the kick it has.

Take that back! Just because your frail northern hand can't shoot a .44 doesn't mean it's a bad gun. Learn to hold a gun, kkthxbai.

HAHA frail hands? not even close. I didnt say it was a bad gun, what I was implying is that it has a strong kick back and after about 60 rounds its gonna leave a mark.
