its interesting that they log data of what everyone has installed on their systems. "Software" that is.
The graphs of cpus/gpus and such are sort've interesting. But i find it amusing that they are cataloguing who runs what on their computer aside from steam and steam games.
I've been wary of SLI/Crossfire ever since I got my HD 4870 x2 and the only game that supported it right was Crysis. Almost every other game I played had a problem unless I manually disabled the second card. But that's probably more of ATI's drivers fault

Yeah, that's one reason why I don't use sli/xfire. The performance boost just isn't what it's supposed to be a lot of the time, there's lots of issues with it, it's expensive, takes a bigger PSU to run, added noise, added heat... meh. I prefer sticking with one powerful GPU.
Yep. ATI's poor driver support for SLI plus my cards faulty stock fan settings caused it to deteriorate way earlier then it should of - I switched to a single GPU 560 Ti 2gb from Nvidia and it runs way better and I have no problems with any games now, and driver support is excellent.
That x2 was the biggest waste of money. $350 investment that I will never get back.
ATI/AMD definately has poor support for SLI. <- think about it....
I've comes to realize that hardware will only last as long as the skill of the person utilizing the hardware, whether overclocking or not. I personally have been overclocking my crossfire 5770's for awhile now and have had 0 problems, and I am able to enjoy all of my games at enthusiast level gaming (all settings maxed). I will be definately continuing this trend of 2 gpu's are better than 1 gpu.
Not mentioning the fact that I also use it as a space heater in the winter , crunching numbers with [email protected] and other projects like DNETC heh. Awesomeness!
Back when I got that I was much less educated and I just assumed stuff. Plus I didn't know the fan was underclocked when I got it until it was too late. Funnily enough my friend knows a shit ton about this stuff and he had the same card, and it flat out died as well.
In the past I've fried hardware while enjoying the learning process of overclocking heh.. I always control my fans through Speedfan, as recently they added support for AMD hardware , so I can see temps/fan speeds at all times. Your right, a shitty fan profile can and will ruin hardware, allowing it to run much hotter than it should!
I'm betting every video card is arranged this way to allow for natural wear/tear and OPTIMAL sound performance.... Like, my video cards will allow the temps to raise into the 90's or higher before actually engaging at 100% duty cycle, which is bad! I am so glad speedfan fixed this, now as soon as my video cards raise 5c the fans are engaged to full duty cycle, which is loud as hell with two of them going, but oh well, its neglible when you game is making noise too.
