I think im going to have to stop reading the news, because in all honesty, stupid people are numbing my compassionate better senses, which tell me that stupid people shouldn't be lined up and shot 1 by 1.

Belfast council puts Lennox to sleep despite outcry - CNN.com

    Honestly?

I gave up reading certain newspapers and politicial websites a LONG time ago and can quite safely say that I'm a much happier person for it.

"Over the past two years, council officials have been subjected to a sustained campaign of abuse including threats of violence and death threats," said the statement.
I'd be more worried about hell, which is where these people are going.

          ...
          Honestly?
Wait a second! Seriously ... They probably kill 100 dogs and 500 cats where you live every week.

But this particular dog is more notable or special because you saw him on the news? That kind of logic is terrible. And bad for society.

People get wrapped up in things like Casey Anthony or Trayvon Martin or Whitney Houston like it is some sort of referendum on good vs. evil in this world. And it's not.

Meanwhile, usually the people caught up about in these special cases are probably ignorant and uninterested in babies getting killed, violent crime, drug users, kids getting bullied or other evils happening where they live.

You take care of the people you know, people you live around and things often will work out fine. With 7 billion people, something bad is usually happening somewhere (and the story on TV/internet is probably incomplete because they want ratings).
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

            This.

Also, in comparison to all the atrocities committed every day throughout the world, this is incredibly low on my "list of cares".

You seem to be missing the point, misinformation about a particular breed of dog / the handling of "Mans best friend" , are not trivial, nor should be handled as such.

Where I live they do not take dogs/cats away from their owner, just to kill them based on breed. They definitely don't kill them when other people are willing to adopt them. Did you read the article?

The dog is high profile because he was taken from his family (of 7 years) and murdered because he RESEMBLED an illegal breed. Even though people tried to appeal to council that they could legally take the dog back to their country and would do so at no charge, the council still decided to murder the dog.

Some people read articles and MISS the entire story line. I call these type of people 'scanners'. They scan through the article instead of actually reading it. READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE STARTING WITH THE HEADLINE!

                    But...I did read the article.

The story is spun in such a way that you feel that the tragedy here is the death of a dog, when really, the tragedy is the enforcement and acceptance of tyrannical laws. This is made to look like an "animal rights" issue, with quotes from "dog lovers". Forget the dog, this is a civil liberties issue.

There's enough HUMAN BLOOD AND SUFFERING on our hands, excuse me if I'm not swept off my feet by this moving story of a dead animal.

                    Just sayin'...

how is it spun? dog was killed because it just so happened to be born looking like a certain type of dog/of a type of breed of dog. It's all kosher til its your pet being pulled from you, and I'm going to presume you don't have pets. I take offense because my youngest dog,is Red Nose Brindle / Bull Mastiff ,and would clearly suffer some bulllshit like Lennox did, a dog that was clearly a loved member of a family. He didn't grow old as a family pet,as all family pet's should.

The spin is the emphasis on a dog losing its life, and the constant referral do dog lovers, animal rights activists and such to make this sound like an animal rights issue and ignoring the real issue, which is the attack on civil liberties.

I have pets, and then some. We have horses (miniature ones as well), donkeys, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, ferrets, frogs (don't ask), exotic birds and exotic fish. You could almost call me an animal lover.

So someone showing up deeming your dog(s) dangerous, taking them, and killing them would be just any other day?

Wow, I feel sorry for your pets.

I read the story and saw some neutral background of it. It does look like a very unfair situation.

I wasn't saying the situation of the dog and the family was unfair, but you don't need to go to Belfast to see dogs unfairly put to death.

Once minor incident at least where I live can cause a dog to be euthanized. If an incident were super minor and some hateful neighbor trumped something up, I'm sure someone could see someone else's dog put to death unfairly.

This dog lived 7 years, 5 with the family. There are lots of stories of a kid's dog getting hit by a car or puppies dying.

                            My only point was context.

Baker you are reminding me of a weatherman commenting about the weather but never going outside. How long til Project 23,thats something worth discussing at further lengths than how trivial we can make compassion for animals.
