When i was a child, we had an "atari", my dad had this 30 foot TV antenna tower outside, it started pourning down rain, no thunder or lightning in sight. 2 hour's later the rain is gone and still no thunder or lightning. I got up went to the bathroom took my shower got out and sat back down to play on the atari with my cousin. I heard thunder and a few pop's of lightning at this point in time, the game was over i sat down the controller and all of a sudden my cousin tossed her controller about 3-4 feet in front of her and fell over backwards crying, Lightning hit the 30ft tower outside and came through the television into the atari and out the end of the controller shocking the snot out of her. To say the least, we always wanted a "nintendo" and guess what we got? A nintendo!!

Also i think it wasnt a real lightning...
It was Baker running around with the Lightning Gun and killing some grunts,
and he hit your tv antenna xD

Try to "reset" the PS3 by prssing the power button , hold it and wait till it beeps 1 time and then release the power button. This resets all settings that belong to the graphic settings (resolution etc.).

i tried to reset the ps3. I held it for 30 seconds and it did nothing. POS.

My cable guy was like... you were watching porn at 3:30... then thats the last activity we have on you. j/k. although he did seem to know when I was last on the modem. big brother.

I called insurance company and they are a pain in the ass... need to sign all these docs, pay deductible, get an inspection.... I think I may just tell them to get lost and buy all new stuff...

OH AND THE NEW PC I BUILT?!?! no longer recognizes a "network adapter" My MB prolly got fried a bit. I am going try a network card and see if it fixes the problem. May also try resetting the cmos by pulling out the battery.

Yep, many years on TPU tell me that if something gets fried in a pc from a power surge it's usually the network card. Must have been a hell of a surge to pass through your modem, router, then split off and fry the ps3 and your network card.

Lightning works in mysterious ways, Only those who have been electrofied by this force understand's exactly how it works, Most do not live to tell the secret's, as in this case, it was not a human struck, but a piece of art work created by humans. Time to put voice chip's in these poor devices to see if any survive to tell the mystery behind the lightning strikes.

Not quite the same subject, but I've learned to be careful in the winter.

A couple of years ago, I static shock fried a Logitech mouse with a touch.

And on the same subject, about 5 years ago I was outside when you could tell a storm was coming. I felt "wrong" like a powerful electric field was stalking me, I can't exactly describe the feeling but it was scary as hell and I legitimately felt in danger of being struck by lightning.

This storm would turn out to have exceptionally severe lightning: it fried a DVD player, temporarily disabled a refrigerator (it would later work, but the ice maker never would again) and killed a couple of other things although I can't remember what they were.

I've learned to take weather seriously and unplug stuff during thunderstorms.

Me too. I have internet via a usb dongle so no way to fry my comp that way. All my stuff is plugged into surge protectors or GFI outlets. I don't know if this makes any difference, but I also have 3 phase power.
