I think your analysis in many ways is correct, not that I spend any time thinking about that kind of thing.

The problem is that Quake is a "socially broken game" for a number of reasons and in a couple of ways a technologically broken game (ip6 looms eventually, for instance).

Fixing those things requires engine coding. And engine coding is hard as hell. Often you hit a pitfall the necessary results in an unwanted "side quest" (i.e. something you thought would take X amount of time, in fact, ends up taking far longer because you need to learn Y or gain expertise in Z).

There are some people who would like to X, Y or Z. But they are unwilling to learn engine coding, despite the information being freely available at Inside3D.

So you are sitting in some special chair that gets to decide the "absolute truth"?

In my experience, people who feel they sit in a special chair able to dictate the "absolute truth" are usually quite biased, narrow-minded and simplistic.

And often extremely selfish people absorbed in only their own selfish interests, unable or unwilling to see negative consequences and/or harm inflicted by bad behavior. And of course you will say and truly believe this is me (*yawn*). I have a feeling this interesting point-of-view will involve a magic eraser where someone who has earned a bad reputation is really a shining angel of virtue.

And I won't say a word in reply to your "absolute truth" as to not distract with your point of view.

If the poster wants his old username reset or something, all he need do is ask. That individual is not in the ban file (I haven't actually checked to "see who it is", nor am I going to. But I could tell who it was by the kind of argument being put forth.).

I think what that individual had to say is wrong, but everyone is entitled to their opinions. Not talking about stuff doesn't make things go away.

Anger is apparently an excellent way to waste time,I personally wouldn't re-register over and over.I didn't at Quakedm.com , and I wouldn't here.I'm beyond the forums for the most part because Quake to me isn't chatting on the boards, to me its either gibbing someone or someone gibbing me. Or, Y NO UNFREEZE? I spend 99% of my potential Quake time actually playing it,but lately it's Shmack Shmack Shmack. I hope those servers reach their goal, thats the only really active server lately. Eurogamers are always quaking, but damn I ping horrible now to anywhere but FFANY.

We've seen angry hater-type, rage-quitters and other forms of the dominos Pizza Noids raging around for a while.

I think this kind of behavior needs some extra attention, because it is important to the community. I'm not saying anything will change, but it will draw attention to how the problem affects the community.
