  • PS3 or Xbox

Thought I'd get some or your opinions on the subject. I'm thinking of having my wife get me one or the other for Christmas this year. I just bought her one of them Lenovo "yoga" Ultrabook/Tablet thingamabobs.

Or would you wait for the xbox 720 or ps4 and make do with my pc for another year?

I would wait,I mean... the 360 and PS3 are nearing the end of their life cycles.

      360 starts at $99.

I was debating buying a 360 recently to play NBA 2k13 with some friends, but I read that by the end of 2013 both new systems should be out. This is why they're doing some mass advertising right now for xbox systems, I think it's nearing the end of it's product life cycle before they introduce the new xbox and ps.

If you decide you're going to go ahead and buy one, it really depends on a few factors:

          1. If you play multiplayer games often - xbox is a better choice, they have superior lobbies and people tend to cling to this system for multiplayer games (you may find more of your friends using xbox as opposed to PS3 - this was the case for me).

          2. Single player games - PS3, no question. Assassins creed (the newest one) is solely for PS3. It has a lot of good games exclusive to it's system that aren't available on xbox.

          3. best bang for your buck - PS3. Xbox may have cheaper deals (now), but you have to put into account the fact that if you use wireless controllers you'll always buy batteries (inconvenient), and you have to pay for internet usage to play online (how stupid is that? who wants to pay twice for internet). PS3 uses your wifi, and has rechargeable wireless controllers. PS3 also comes with a built in blu-ray that at one time was valued around $300 on it's own (not sure about today).

So all in all, I would take the ps3 hands down over the xbox360 if I was to choose between the two. Unfortunately, it would be a tough choice for me as well given that most of my friends play xbox, but I'd rather not pay for a second internet.

This should not be ignored as well..... In all honesty I without a doubt forsee Microsoft blurring the line between PC/their consoles......

I see Microsoft positioning themselves to where they can release 1 Game that is supported on two different platforms very easily, it makes perfect sense.....

Cut the development costs almost in half by joining them / retain the sales of both platforms at a reduced cost for the development phase.

Honestly I don't know how anyone can be too invested into the PS3 or 360, as both consoles are nearing their 8th birthdays, and the PS4/720 are definately looming over the horizon.

A self-assembled awesome PC will cost roughly the same price ranges as the newer consoles soon to come out (or cheaper depending what you actually stuff into the PC option, components wise. Not buying Intel = already saved you [email protected]$# ton of money LOL)

PS : The new consoles ,really won't be console's.... They are going to be running common PC hardware.
