  • When is ctf.quakeone.com usually active?

I'm trying right now after midnight on a weekday and no one's on, big surprise. But is it just that it's late on a weekday? Or is this more active on weekends and such? I know about CTF Thursdays also, so I'll be trying that tommorow ( although I got the missing star.mdl problem, but I have 3wave installed...don't know what's going on there ).

i also CTF any chance i get, but it's been months. in the past year, all i've found is the occasional pickup game

CTF.QuakeOne.com is running in public (pickup) mode, which shouldn't require the star.mdl. Though Sometimes Someone will change to practice mode that uses the 3wave star model for the hook and will give u an error if u dont have that installed. Make sure thugh, that you do install the 3wave pak into /id1 (rename them if u have to to preserve the numerical order), or create a folder called CTF in your /quake folder and put the 3wave paks there and run quake with the -game CTF parameter (ie: qrack.exe -game CTF)

I've been talking to several players and there IS an interest in playing CTF, yet with loose order no game times are scheduled.

We should definately get ctf back up in full swing this summer! I miss the 4 hour midnight ctf marathons as back in the MTOWN / hating days!

yes i miss CTF as well, and there may be interest in resurrecting it--cuz, comon, we all know it is one of the bitchingest mods out there--but i dont see any impetus to organize it and promote it. frenzy was good at stuff like this and he loves ctf but he's kinda dropped out of the quake scene a bit

I put the pak0 file into the ID1 folder ( renamed it to pak2 I think ) and havn't tried it yet as everytime I try joining a server besides rage.quakeone.com I get a Cl_connect host error...and that's with JoeQuake, so I don't know the problem with that.

Is the CTF Thursday thing still going on?

BTA was always first and foremost a CTF clan, LordHavoc still itches for CTF to this day, and I know Supa loves it as well - I know Monster and I are up for it, and I'm sure the rest have no objections so... ...Shit, what the hell are we waiting for?

Most of the channels I'm in are development rather than just playing...

irc.anynet.org in #qc and #darkplaces you can guess what theyre about...
irc.enterthegame.com #clan_bta you can guess what this channel is
irc.quakenet.org #terrafusion not as much of a guess, 99% mappers, and most of them are QW players if they're still playing Quake. Trinca, metlslime and many others hang out here, with some regulars of #qc and #darkplaces

none of these seem particularly suited for a general congregation of flag thieves however...

I jumped on CTF.QUAKEONE.COM just to see, and after 2 minutes reyalp (CIVIC?) jumped on, and we played a nice game on elder. Then the map switch to E4M4 and as soon as the red team hooked across the water to mega the game froze. I check the logs, check the mod source, check everything. Loaded up quake.intertex.net, check again, but it work over there. After 20 minutes of playing the shell game, I found that the map on the hdz box was corrupt. So I refreshed E4M4 on ctf.quakeone.com, and now no problems!
So, atleast that's settled! Now let's get some games going....

when u do connect, make sure u check out the commands available by typing COMMANDS in the console. crctf has a powerful observer system if u just want to watch the game, plus a plethora of stats to boot!

I've heard a lot of maps on HDZ are a little strange. DM2, E1M2, ...

For example, one of the teleporters on DM2 teleports you to the Quad.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

whitehot.quakeone.com gets the same results. Someone replaced the original dm2 and e2m1 with CA+ versions where the triggers don't work and the teleporters are wierd. The CA+ version of e2m1 doesn't even have a SP spawn point.

                        bah off topic my bad

Ya plus I notice e4m5 doesnt have any flags! I need to reupdate the ID maps since mostly hdz was a 3wave server. Either way quake.intertex.net has everything running but, the server runs a lil slow.

The hdz server crashes when on map e4m4. Crashes whenever I get to the water area. :x
