    Capture the Scrag!

After numerous requests, Destroyer has benevolently supplied a server to host this old school mod (circa 1997).

"ZOID: 'Well, that wasn't until later; and mostly a joke.
But I remember when I first released capture.
A guy _actually_ did "Capture the Scrag".
It was running on the server at tele11.colorado.edu.
You had a scrag at each base. "Your scrag has been taken."
    It was funny as hell.
Later on the guy made it so you actually carried the scrag with you.
    It floated above your head.'
    "
Well, its back as a blast from the past at 69.28.220.4:26000
    (DNS comming soon!)

BTW this is a Chicago based server.

Check it out its alot of great fun!

        Thanks for the game R00k
Being more of a DM'er I'd never played this or CTF before but despite the high latency it was still fun.

        Kind regards

            Rook,
I can't thank you enough for finding capture the scrag, and again to Destroyer for hosting this server! I quit playing quake after the original Intertex server went down and now I am hooked again...hehe

            cheers!

Very fun, and I definately plan to play it more once some more players are on. It reminds me a lot of the old server I used to play on for ctf - quake.dread.net

Does the scrag fly around trying to avoid everyone?

                    A bit of quake history...

Capture the Scrag was released by a young programmer in the early quake days.
Later on he died in a car accident, in his early 20s. There was a website dedicated to his memory where people left comments about his mod and what happened to him.

Yes, the server he had was WEBMASTER2000, and this is in honor of him and also to those who played there. I am FUCKING glad om' that you didnt flame me for opening another ctf server that waters down the true 3wave feel etc.

Thank you sir, for your respectful comments.

The part that bothers me the most is 5 or 6 years ago you could do a google search and find a lot of pages about capture the scrag and the guy who died. Now I can't find a single thing about him.

Just goes to show you with time we all will fade. How depressing.

Good point! and yes very depressing...but at least Rook and Destroyer are keeping his memory alive, at least to whom appreciated the server we played on back then.
