Were the teams randomly picked or was there a captain for each team? Also what is with 3 players on some teams and 4 on others? Is someone just going to be a backup only or are we going to have to rotate people out? I thought this was a 3-3 tourney. So how come we couldnt take the extras, reshuffle the teams and make 12 teams?

    Just curious.

It's staying 3 v 3, but you know there are going to be cases where maybe one player can't make a match, or someone just goes inactive (i'm hoping that one doesn't happen). The 4th player was just randomly assigned to teams. My hope is we can get 5 or so more players to sign up and we can all have teams of 4.

What happens when all 4 show up? Who decides who plays and who sits?

We are all adults here, one person is going to have to sit out each game, it shouldn't be the same guy for each game.

Just please try to trust Crackdog on this. Since we've created teams, I'm seeing his logic come to life. If we lose a player (like we have), we fill the 4th in. We knew once teams were released everybody wasn't gonna be happy, or stay playing, or get wet feet, but it's been planned for. We tried to make the teams as even as possible with the skill levels and players we have.

Crackdog and I picked the teams amongst each other. Originally we were going to have the website do it. You can put a # next to each player (when you are an admin on the site), and then generate teams based on those #'s. Well, this wasn't working out so great, and after 2+ hours of me trying to "trick" the site by switching the #'s up, we decided to just create them ourselves, it just wasn't working right.

So if anybody's extremely mad, unhappy etc with their team, we're sorry. We did this decision making on no personal levels.

The teams look good to me. Some have a good one-two punch but balanced by the 3rd-4th. I dont see any one team that looks totally lopsided.
I'm gonna make tshirts with team 2 on it and play wearing my leather workout gloves and oldschool fighter pilot goggles

I'm gonna agree with rook, I think you guys nailed these teams out. I think it was key not to leave the top tier guys hanging with lower tier players and you added a man for conflict. Seems like the responsible thing to do given the past experiences of missing men come game time. May the best team win!

good job frenzy and crack, well done. teams are balanced fine, dont mind anyone. i just dont get the four players thing cause then when a team gets eliminated, we already know that they're going to be criticizing the fourth player and also the rules. might have been better to have teams of 3, and if a player goes missing (on more than one occasion) he gets replaced permanently, but then again that could make the teams very unfair if a weaker player replaced a stronger one, so I understand the difficulties.

job well done anyway, and lets get this tourney started!

Just to give my team a heads up - I'm going to be out of town for my sister's wedding this weekend.

I'll be back in town on Monday. I work from 8am to 10pm.

Sorry for the short message, but time is of an essence right now. A lot of preparations need to be taken care of before tomorrow.

First of all I could care less what the teams are. I'm not complaining about that. All I'm questioning is why 4 players on a team if we're not going to do 4v4's. I understand people sometimes don't show up and things happen but if all 4 show up someone will have to sit. After playing this game for 10 years and being in many tourneys and matches, there's bound to be issues and complaining. It's easy to say "We're all adults" but knowing the history of this game and how things turn out, that's not going to solve the problem.

If we're going to do 4 on a team that's fine. I just think there should be some ground rules as to how it's going to work because I can see the arguments happening already. Who plays and who sits... someone's gonna get pissed cause they don't wanna sit or because if a lower seed player plays their team will lose... blah blah.... it's things like that which ruined the team CA tourney.

Generally, everyone in CTF has a good attitude. I really think there is a 'no tolerance' attitude towards trash talk, so it's probably been one of my best experiences in 10 years of Quaking.

In addition, its a league for fun, there's going to be a season - playoffs.. so we have lots of time to make the correct match ups based on maps, position, and the teams we face (maybe you have someone's # over the years).
I'm on your team and i'll be the first on record to go out and say i'll sit for you or any one of our teammates if need be and if all 4 of us are present.

Solecord, I agree with what your saying about arguments coming up over things like that. I was going to make the rule that if all 4 people are present then each person plays at least one map. Like Rampage said, I have 4 players on my team and I will have no problem stepping aside and not playing a map. My hope is that each team will end up having 4 players on a team by the end of the season (with late sign ups allowed) and during the playoffs all teams will be on equal footing. There's nothing on the line with this tournament, it's just supposed to be about having some fun, so I hope we can limit the winning at all costs crap.

Don't get me wrong, I will be glad to sit out as well. My comments are not supposed to be my personal feelings about ME wanting to play. I'm just trying to think of the big picture. Not me but the tourney as a whole. As I said before, I've been in so many tourneys over the years where those few individuals ruin the whole game... I just don't want to see that happen here, that's all.

And btw Ramp, thanks for the words. I, just as you, will be just fine sitting out as many games as necessary if needed. I just want to see this tourney succeed!
