  • Just letting you know

We are trying to make all the teams for the league fair as possible. The teams we currently have put together are, dare I say, a rough draft. There will be, and it's inevitable, team changes ahead.

Remember, we've put this thing together in like a week. This is a tremendous load, and things are running great. We thank everybody that's signed up, and these have been some of the best games I've played in years. The last 2 nights, I've gotten off Quake not even knowing it was 5 a.m.

Sting, Spoon, and I saw one of the greatest endings in Quake last night as well, this shit rocks

Stay with us, it's only gonna get better soon

p.s. We need some referees. The plan is to put a time table on the tourney frontpage, with referee names and available times for this, as well as the best way to get ahold of them i.e. msn/yahoo/icq/aim/mirc etc
Let me know if you're interested.

referee's aren't needed. the lads that are playing these days are mature and im sure will handle everything properly. organization is key, but when its too much organization some people will eventually bail. look how we play some great ctf every night with no probs what so ever.

so seeing as you are going to make adjustments to the team, i'll put in a suggestion. i only think that you guys should make the teams into three players rather than four. Solecord was right, some problems would arise. we dont need any substitutes or any of that. rook also had a good idea, saying that the other 'maybe players' could be put in a pool and be used when needed.

Well I like the idea of referees.. you never know what will happen or if you might need admin to restart or something of that nature. Also I think 4 players per team is good... I can guarantee teams will have issues getting all the players for matches every week, so it will be nice to have an extra guy. Finally just wanted to say thanks to Frenzy, Ramp, and Crackdog who are making this happen. Takes a lot of time and effort to get something like this going and go through this tough process of picking teams when no matter what teams they pick some people will be unhappy. I honestly just want to get matches started asap, teams are fine too me.

PS - Anyone have any demos from last nights' games?

Not even, but that helps. We are setting up something that some of you may call "QTV", but QTV is specifically for QuakeWorld. What we are setting up is a faq-proxy I think? We're calling it Revival Vision. Basically, up to 32 players can connect to a certain ip, and watch the game and talk as if they were really there, but they aren't able to make contact with the actual players in the match. It's pretty snazzy.

Well I'm not sure, I know in CS the HLTV Proxy server takes HLTV demos which records generally all players.

If Revival Vision server can take the demo then we wont run into any human-error problems.

                      hrmm?

is it possible someone could intergrate quakeworld's .mvd feature where demos are automatically recorded by server from all players povs.... ? so that upon playing the demo you can just press jump and it goes to the next players pov....

would be nice, I've seen this in action plus with multiview. It's interesting though as entities arent culled at all on the server side. In netQuake if u record a demo then use freemove to roam around while the demo is playing, entities that are not seen from the pov of the player who recorded the demo arent written to the demo file.
I dont have time to add this feature to the server before the tourney starts, but maybe in the near future, though it might break the antiwallhack feature
