  • CTF League adjustments

Since there hasn't been any news lately, I thought I'd update what's going on with the league. After this weekend we determined that we are going to need to reshuffle teams and bump them up to 5 players per team and get rid of some of the inactive players. We are also creating a new website, that should work much better for the league.

I now realize that many of you do not want use mIRC, so we are going to give the new website a message board. The message board should be the one place that everyone can communicate with each other (ex. setting up matches). All that we ask is that you check out the website daily (that's not really tough is it?).

Good idea, and this time, let's have a little less dictation about when matches are to occur, and allow those players involved in any pre-established bracket to find a suitable timeframe for themselves and their opponent. Also , you should forget about trying to "Perfect" the teams, its just a waste of time and effort that can be spent making sure the tournament pushes forward......

When a rough spot occurs (1-2 or more players dont show up) , give teams the ability to fix the problem on their own,get a match complete, and then move on to the next match(es)..

This sounded like a great idea that I wanted to be apart of , its the idea of competition that is so appealing, but dictating when matches occur between two teams in the tourney~ "This is the bracket system, your facing this team at this time" is a little bit extreme, rather than get with your team and the team your facing to schedule your game.

As players all have different times of availibility, its ludacris to expect to have a successful tournament if you try to cram it all into one section of the clock, which from the looks of things, last time I read, was late-PM only...

The league is constantly changing, we are attempting to adapt to what the large demands of the league.

You must understand that preseason was our chance to see if pre-scheduled times work; It's like having a scheduled match in professional sports, the teams know when to show up.

The difficulty we've been facing is having teams and teammates contact eachother (the latter being a huge problem). With the new site, we're attempting to fix this by having people directly contact each other over the site and schedule their matches/gather their teammates for match/practice.

In terms of teams, we feel we must perfect teams in order to avoid imbalanced matches. We're also going to clear the league of inactivity, so we can have regular weekly matchups without having to look for these players. An issue that was thought out extensively prior to the league was letting everyone join without handpicking only active players. In a perfect world, we obviously want to help the revival of Quake and endorse players coming back, but we have witnessed as of late, only the active players have stayed and the others have come and gone.

Matches were never meant, nor are going to be, played at a set time. Only those pre-season games were. Each team will be allowed to play between Sunday night / Saturday night, giving them 6 days to get it done, or the entire week.
