    R00k as stated his willingness to make changes to the pub ctf mod running at quake.intertex.net. The idea is to make it as broadly appealing as possible. It should be interesting and simple for newbs, but also still fun for more experienced players. What would people like to see changed?

    There were a few problems with unbalanced teams the last ctf thursday, what about a random team remix on new map?

    People have complained about too much quad, especially on maps like e4m3. How should it be limited?

    IMO pent is dumb and should just be off all the time.

    Currently the server runs with the 4 original runes, but set to 50% power.

    Weapon-stay is on atm to make it easier for newbs to get weapons and keep the game faster paced. Is this good? Alternately, weapon respawn could be reduced from 20 seconds to 8.

    I would like ot be able to get ammo from a weapon...So personally every 30 seconds the weapon stay should give away ammo to someone who already has thw weapon.

      Improvements for Intertex Pub CTF:

      - take off all runes (a lot of it is luck anyway with just trying to find a good rune) haste is such a waste.

      - take off quad, remove a lot of them, or make respawn time longer for quads (this will take away those one shot kills, and create more exciting fights)

      - slow down the hook a tad? - i think the hook is too fast. I hate how people can just fly around and shoot down rockets as they are flying. the hook was never intended for that, in my opinion. it will also create more exciting fights.)

      - i hope walking speeds are default (i.e. not higher than 320).

      This will make the game a little bit more simple, and focus more on skill, and less on strategy and timing quads, and finding runes.

        • remove that runequakish weapon stay feature, it's annoying.
        • only allow 1 powerup (random) to appear in a random powerup location
        • slow the hook just a tad

          Sorry guys, I've been busy at work lately, (havent had a day off in over 20 days straight working 9 to 13 hours-- so if you see me chances are im tired or drunk), ANYWAYS...

          Runes, maybe after someone dies with a rune it doesnt drop BUT respawns randomly in 20 seconds? Or abandon them completely. (hmm rune quake is popular maybe i can entice some to play ctf?)

          Powerups, yes pent sux Even back in the Hating/Mtown day. At mtown its was disabled. Hating it was enabled and every one pretty much Growns when u hear it and just stands still and waits for that 1 free cap. Kinda like pulling over on the highway when u hear the FireEngine passing by... increase quad timer to equal ring/pent hmm interesting yet "too many" is too many... 1 is fine (as per DM)

          Hook Speed: Actually the hook is SLOWER on the pull by 20% than normal 3wave or CRCTF. The fire speed is Upped x 1.5, which only means you dont have to wait so long before u "go" Though I was considering reducing to equal the same speed a rocket travel, maybe this will help negotiate impact of the hook as you would for rockect fights. (:/ does that make sense?)

          Weapon spawns could be reduced to 10 seconds (halftime) this would still give players renewed ammo and also allow newer players a weapon. (why did id use 20 seconds anyways?)


          I was thinking of replacing the player model with the dog, and making a hell dogz ctf

            ps, haste isnt useless u run faster. and on that note runspeeds are 320 default.

              Current setup for tonights ctf night:
              Runes on (50% power)
              Pent if off
              Quad is on, but with 2 minute respawn instead of 1.
              Weapon-stay is off now, but respawn time is reduced to 10 seconds.

                Sounds good. I'm not going to be able to attend this game but I like the changes made.

                Pent should stay though. What's the powerup time limit? 30? if Pent is a problem then reduce the powerup limit to 15? I like Pent Keeps me alive when I don't have armor and a big gun

                  If you really want the old style pub ctf feel, get rid of the +hook belly hook. Instead, make +hook an alias for impulse 22 which is the original ctf axe hook.

                  Everyone should use the axe hook!!

                    Actually, yes. That's a good point. The whole point of hook in CTF is for transportation, not to have the ability to attack while hooking. Good point there Sole, you deserve a brownie from Mindz

                          wtf theres a built in hook alias? i've just been doing +h "imp 22" -h "imp 7" was there something i missed in newer ctf o.o

                            Ok, this thread is 5 years old. The server is dead.

                            But Q1CTF is still kickin!

                            To make it easy for new guys, I made an alias that the server sends to the player, HOOK. which is actually alias hook "impulse 22". So A new player can say how to i make my Right mouse button select the HOOK ?
                            Bind mouse2 hook . That's easier than, bind mouse2 "impulse 22" but the same thing.
