I tried ip directly, same issue as connecting to the dns. I let it sit for 5 full minutes, nothing changed.

this command line should look like this:

JoeQuake.exe -zone 512 -ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

need spaces there... most clients already default to 512, and the ip address is not required anymore
