Old Clan-Willing Thread

I am willing to start up my old clan DBE - Dead Bodies Everywhere. I see there are some willing participants. I have 7 years of quake experience and plenty of mod experience. If anyone is willing, just contact me here.

I'd love to see more Q1 clans popping up here and there. Haven't seen many around the past couple years. I'm also up for clanning myself, sounds like it could be fun. I currently play CA, Runes, and RA. Hopefully will get back into CTF soon too if it rises in popularity and other people are actually playing it. If any clans happen to be interested, just private message me here or find me on a server. Hope to see a lot of Q1 clans soon

Clans have always been to me a wonderful aspect of the mythos that comprises the Quake community... It has even made its way into some of the old Quake literature back in the day, and it harkens back a sense of a tribal aspect to the world, even if you think of it as populated with the rangers, the ruinous atmosphere and despairing sky way on the psyche and bring them to their conscience's knees and war upon one another and the local ogre populace all the same.

So seeing clans on servers in a way just feeds that same imagination and immersion for me... Actually considering the way Quake is designed.... and how people can roam from server to server, and there is the existence of clans... One could argue that it is the first MMO, and about the only one that got it right as its experiences have significantly permeated... Quake is an axe, and all culture is but flesh for the rending.

So yeah that aside, if anyone needs a BAD player for their clan... I just enjoy the aspect of clans in general.

Both Frequent IHOC servers exclusively , but I always manage to talk them into going and playing Quake somewhere else all the time ! They are BOTH Solid Players , I'll provide some Quake Demo's (normal .dem files) of myself
ONE vs ONE Lord Ic3s and Drone , and you might be shocked at how much of a beatdown these two can put out.

I would add there seems to be enough interested players, both from this thread and elsewhere, to stock 5 or 6 clans.

Seems like the questions are this:

1. Clan-leaders are needed ... ppl with initiative that do things. SNS actually, heh, has 3 clan-leader types in it. Otherwise there is no one to assemble the clans.

2. And someone might be upset with me for wondering aloud about this, but I'm just going to say ...

Some members of TU act as if the clan is just a "for fun" association and others are of the mind (QuadRaptor,Monster?) that it is a real clan.

I'm not sure what you're mindset is on this Baker, and quite frankly, I really don't care. TU will be at the match this Friday.

There are those who perhaps were let into the Clan too hastily. It is meant to be fun to be in a Clan. Why not?

However, there are those who seem to have been allowed into TU rather hastily. Some were booted for misconduct, others take the TU tag and just wear it. They don't participate, they don't join in in discussion, events or in the TU forums. Some even mentioned not being interested in any of it. They probably don't know there is a match this Friday and it will probably come and go without their knowledge.

Our Clan is meant to be fun, absolutely! But we're not gonna be taken so slightly that things like this will be allowed. After this Fridays match, the TU household will begin to be put in order.

Someone needs to say if TU should be considered a clan that someone can challenge or spar against and maybe if not ... and I know I'm treading into uncomfortable terrority, but these are real questions ... should some of the more actionable players form their own clan?

Baker your criticism is valid, but suggesting a clan break up is over the line--especially a clan you have absolutely nothing to do with. You seem to think that running the forums gives you the right to be the Godfather of the quake community--organizing new clans and breaking up old ones with the wave of your hand. A clan is an autonomous organization and I find your suggestion offensive.

The majority of TU players are in it as a family of friendly people, and personality is what we mainly consider when looking for new members. This makes us unique. When someone comes to me and says, "yeah i think i could really own for TU in RA/CA/CTF/whatever", I generally explain to them that that isn't what we're mainly about. That said, we do have some very excellent players, for example Monster and Cookie Monster, but even they didn't get in without good personality. And yes we accept challenges, and are hopefully waring with SNS tonight.
