This is a 1on1 rookie QuakeWorld tourney

After running several 1on1 tourneys on kenya maps (KTK) we have decided to take it further, now a 1on1 tourney for rookies only containing TB5 maps and 5 kenya.

We were aiming for 32 players but have already got over 55 signed players, nationality doesn't matter and the motto is to Have fun

Signups closes on Sunday and tourney starts on Monday. around 1 game/week - minimum of 2 games/player

                ouch.

Sassa, on another note, what do you think of this statement: "k-teams changes qworld physics so that they are no longer vanilla qw..."

                It's from this thread: http://www.quakeone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2599

The thread has turned into a discussion about the similarities (or lack thereof) between qw and 0 ping NQ. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

I have talked about this before, its all about sys_ticrate !!

you can bunny in NQ on lan, which I still say is the best game on lan but the competitive is missing and you cant play with sys_ticrate 0 online because you need all very good connection.

The netcode for NQ just simply sux

I honestly dont know much about how k-teams changed qw physics or not because I started back in 03-04 when I went from NQ to QW!

Im more of a competitive kind of guy, I wanna have players to play vs and after winning the last 4on4 NQ tourney 2003, my clan got tired and we all transformed to QW with almost the whole European-NQ-scene to QW instead.

but yeah, almost everything that is possible in QW should be (is?) possible in NQ with sys_ticrate 0.

We even had a lan called "sys_ticrate Zero" back in 2003

but for your original question, im 2 young to see the differences in QW since everything was already there when I started

sys_ticrate is great for single player, but I don't like it at all in multiplayer.

You get knocked around too much. A sys_ticrate around 0.05 is really a lot better -- at least to me because that's what I'm used to, but then again I have to admit I find vanilla team deathmatch rather repetitive -- more like a job than about having fun.

But I guess that's different things for different people.

                    I love FFA deathmatch.

It's a lot better than Quakeworld's on broadband

In QW, you don't even get a chance to dodge a short range rocket, let alone see it which I think is kind of cheap. If Quakeworld had the origin of rockets at the player position like DarkPlaces server does when using prediction, it would be a lot better and even out that gameplay flaw.

Sure, if you are playing a game overseas or something Quakeworld is better, but if I have a good connection to a server, 45 ping is pretty sweet in NQ and really I don't even notice unless my ping is above 80 (I only have 80+ in remote areas).

Quakeworld is a lot better if the connection to a server is bad or if you prefer Quakeworld physics. I also think the QW engines are a lot more refined on a whole, at least right now.

That latest ezQuake is pretty nice.

baker, I dont like to play with other ticrate than 0.0000

if u play with higher than that, then u cant bunny jump and that takes away a HUGE part of my fun in playing QW/Q1

I just love the trix and speed
