from time to time when i visit this forum i wish for once to find some nice demos/movies in this section.

instead, there's only stupid spam with ROFL FUNNAY type of clips that you could find while clicking like a braindead zombie on random links @ youtube.com

seriously.. isn't there anyone in the NQ crowd willing to make a killer movie that anybody can be proud of?

i sure would like to make a kick-ass movie.. the thing is.. my current hardware does not allow me to... not in any descent quality anyways..

polarite is still working on his RQP2 movie tho.. (will probably take a few more years to complete )

Canadian*Sniper: no offense man.. but watching someone finish the first SP episode in 8 minutes is really boring. if you wanted to show us DarkPlaces you should've made it a lot smaller or at least used some incredible SDA demos

Just saying at least some one made a quake video which was your complaint I know I'm not a movie making expert and never expected anything after making it. And due to restrictions, I could only record while actually playing which was very tricky with the low frames/second and mangled sound.

Maybe some time I'll sort thru the media section. It was intended to be Quake relevant media -- not necessarily movies, media can be other things but certainly movies was an expected component.

I'm not quite sure why there are so many Quakeworld movies made but so few NQ ones. It was not always like this, we once had a few individuals that made tons of them (mostly using Telejano and JoeQuake).

If I were to guess the reason, the NQ players that can really beat up the competition tend to use ProQuake (which doesn't have AVI capability and even using fraps or what not, the visuals would not be appealing) and nothing else.

Also, I don't think 10 videos of DM3, DM3, DM3 and more DM3 would be that interesting to watch And in my opinion, DM3 lacks any interesting terrain.

A year ago when Q1EDGE, Q3DM6QW and sanity got played a lot, I saw cool things all the time ... newbies would be amazed at watching Frenzy and Phenom do the RJ + GJ to the top of Q1EDGE flawlessly (regulars saw it so much it wasn't noteworthy) and Q3DM6QW is a blast to rocket jump around on and necessary to do well too.

I dont know why they won't play different maps anymore. at DM, all they play is Dm3. Hell, they even do 2on2's on DM3. Even though there are lots of perfectly fine maps to 2v2 on. Dm6, Ztndm3, spinev2, just to name a few. They dont want to get beaten on a different map for fear of their ego being crushed.

Different maps are tons of fun. I've tried over 150 custom maps with frikbot. Its interesting stuff..

oh wahh , if I come across a "FUNNAY" video as you put it,I share the humble joy of laughing at someone elses stupidity,and Baker is right,if I make a NetQuake video if/when I get Fraps running properly,and a decent connection (AT&T DSL is offered here for about 20bucks) , my NQ video will consist of
DM3, because the video will consist of clan matches/scrimmages,which I have some of those uploaded to Challenge-TV....and more on my HD

Get these programs to start off with ,and then read Chuck [NygmA]'s tutorial....


Fraps (record quake a demo,run fraps,playdemo demoname,record to avi)
VirtualDubMod ( Re-encode the Fraps created AVI to DivX or XviD format)

Upload the video for us to enjoy,you can also toss a mp3 into the video to give us something to jam out to while watching your creation.

An interesting video doesn't have to be shot on DM3 because thats where the clan matches and scrimmages happen, the clan matches and scrimmages could happen on other maps Its time to start thinking outside the box Mindz!

When I make another video I don't plan on having DM3 in it at all and it will still have clan matches and scrimmages.
