  • Best dance party songs?

I'm sick of going to parties where the host only has shitty music available. I cannot tell you how many times I've ended up the steward of the stereo; I can only find a few danceable songs on their computer, plus I'm drunk, so i am naturally prevented from enjoying myself. Well, no more. Now, i'm going to bring a flash drive to every party with enough music to last a couple hours, and I can just stick it in the computer and forget about it.

So, I'm looking for suggestions of songs to add. What are your favorite dance party songs? Please note: MUSIC THAT IS GOOD TO HAVE AT A DANCE PARTY HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RELATION TO WHAT MUSIC YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO IN YOUR SPARE TIME. This is not a "what music do you like?" thread; this is a dance party music thread. If you don't understand this distinction, please don't contribute to this thread as your input is unlikely to be helpful. I am especially looking for the input of people who go to parties and dance at them, because unless you participate, you won't understand what makes it a good time.

The most important thing about a good dance party song is that everyone knows it. People love to belt out the lyrics to songs all together in a group, it's like collective effervescence. However, if a song is really great to dance to, it can still be good to play at a party, even if no one knows it; but this raises the bar considerably in terms of how danceable it is.

Some examples of what I think are the best dance party songs:
Cyndi Lauper--Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
    Lipps Inc.--Funkytown
DJ Kool--Let Me Clear My Throat
    Michael Jackson--Thriller

Some other good artists to have at parties are: Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and Ace of Base. I foresee some difficulty getting people to recommend similar songs, because these are all pop songs, and no one likes to be mainstream, we all need to have our individualized, esoteric, emotional tastes. But i remind you, party music has nothing to do with music you like to hear in your spare time. Thanks a lot for any suggestions, I hope I can use them to enhance the next party i go to.

LOL you guys don't have a clue about this. It just happens that I am a hard core dance freak. I love DANCE music!!!

The best is EuroDance. Best rhythms modern beats, etc..

I am certain you will love these and you will be a smashing success at any of your parties. You can also listen to most of these on YouTube to get the flavor of them and see the videos as well. The songs I mention are their top hits and also my favorites, but listen to the rest of their songs as well.

                      Here they go:

GG D'Agostino - Fly with you - my all time favorite.
Benny Benassi - Every Single Day
DJ Tiesto - Rox! I love him.
                      Paul Oakenfold - Hypnotize
Cascada - listen to their songs and pick what you like
                      DJ Sammy - Heaven

Ian Van Dahl - Castles in the Sky - a must listen!!!
Corona - Rhythm of the Night (Older, European 1994) - loved this one to death, her whole album is GREAT!!!
4 Strings - Turn It Around
Alice Deejay - Better of Alone
Real McCoy - Another Night - They were hot in 1995.

If you like these then I might dig for more, but this is the cream of the crop. Enjoy.:d

The all time best party song is Notorious B.I.G. - Big Poppa.

I'm getting old at 23, but I prefer a cool laid back enviornment as opposed to a real dance party. I'd be more likely to play some R&B mixed with some poetic hip hop, but to each their own.

Paradise has some good suggestions for dance parties - if you're rolling.

I like it when you call me big poppa, throw your hands in the air if you's a true playa.

I'd also have to suggest Juicy by biggie.

If you want some mellow chilled out hip hop (non fake-gangster bullshit such as 50) I'd say download common, and masta ace (such as beautiful, good ol' love, nostalgia ft marco polo) .. this is what I usually listen to when I quake or work out.
