  • monster size matters

I've been editing sizes of some of the monster models with i think nice effect.

the shambler i scaled thin and tall.

the knight was the monster that gave me the idea...i have always felt this model was a little short.
i used the reforged gloss skin as my armor and an ork for the warrior.

    enforcer i scaled about 15%

do you like this idea or not?

Now that is a very interesting idea, indeed.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Quake has fixed-size bboxes :-/ although this is a good idea, those monsters are going to have weird clipping problems eventually.

This. You can change the skins all you want but the actual entities will stay the same size.

            Hi seanstar,

I see that you worked a lot on your shambler/hellknight skin.
Now it looks way better than some weeks before. Thats great.

I think its clear to see in the screenshots, that the models are really bigger now.
I also fully understand gbs comment / warning:
Imagine the big shambler walks through a door, which is too small for him now.
What will happen ? A big clipping error will be there.
Did you try this situation ? Will there be a crash with Darkplaces,
or will the shambler simply walk thorugh the wall ?

Other than this issue, I like the idea also very much !

            Best wishes,
            Seven

The shambler would merely walk through the wall. As said before, the actual entity size doesn't change, so the top half of him will look like it's there, but it won't really exist.

                Thank you the_f0qer.

So in other words: a head-shot will not hurt him
                ...better shoot his knees then.

If you know about it, you can deal with it.
                Nevertheless, good idea seanstar.

thanks Seven...ill email them to you tonight.

i realize this is all relative to how large you scale something...its not really a problem unless the model is scaled alot larger.

i made an even taller shambler last night...you can see the lightning is not between his hands in this screenshot

this is not a big problem to me because i only noticed when i saw the screenshot...at full game speed its not really noticable.

new skin that i call spider zombie.

my fiend skin is another reforged skin mod

                  i scaled most monsters 10 to 15%.

the models all seem to play perfectly, i havent seen one go through a wall or any clipping.

darkplaces hasent crashed in like 1hour play time.

i like the zombie and knight most of all because the stock models are a little small and almost non threatening

you should play some user made maps with graveyard parts, you grab a key and like fifty zombies come out and you're all like oh shi--- when you realize you still only have 10 grenades.
