A recent movie similar to it is Pandorum (2009), an indie film. Really amazing what you can get with an indie film these days. Moon was also a great movie.
Pandorum (2009): A ship with 16,000 on a 200 year voyage with everyone in sleeping chambers. A guy wakes up from sleep as there is a power failure. Movie falls a bit in the horror genre with a great plot twist ending.
Moon (2009): We have an outpost on the moon mining Helium-3 and making periodic shipments to the Earth. During a maintenance trip in a moon-rover, the guy stationed to post is injured. The HAL-9000 like computer system gives him medical treatment and he wants to check out the crash ...
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
The newest AVP is fn awesome. Too bad I have issue's with the skull and crossbones version & DX11
The newest one was disappointing. It wasn't scary at all. The first PC AvP was, and still is the scariest one. It was the only one where the pulse rifle sounded and felt right, and in the single player the aliens always came from different places so it really gave you the feeling that you never were "safe".
The new one is decent, it's better than AvP 2 but I hate fact that marines can block, it takes all the scariness out of multiplayer. The aliens are just too weak overall, especially since their strength is their speed - but the melee system cancels that out when you come in contact with a pred. And the aliens can't even hide in the dark, given the marines shoulder lamp having a large radius and the aliens practically glowing in the dark from shader effects, as well as that stupid tail thats 3 times as long as an alien's actual tale whipping around constantly, giving you away when your on a wall.
The rock-paper-scissors combat really ruined the tension of playing as a marine, and half the appeal of an aliens game is the potential scare factor.
The first one was great for scares given in either single or multiplayer you had no flashlight, all you had was flares, or the Image intensifier. The flares didn't last forever, max you could have was 4 (even though you had unlimited flares) and the Image intensifier uses your motion tracker's battery so you switch to it, you lose tracking. It is one of the few games that actually is still scary, and the scares are not at all scripted.
AvP 3 was alright, but the lock on, rock paper scissors combat and the lack of overall control as an Alien really hurt the game. Playing as a pred was well done though, It was the best of the three games in the series - it just seems like they focused so much on the pred they didn't have enough time to make the other classes just as fun. I hope the next game is more like the first. The predator, and survivor are the only things i really liked about AvP 3.
Even the facehuggers were a joke in the third -
The jump is like 2 feet forward, its more high which if you watched the movies they are supposed to do a powerful jump forward
In the first one, they walk slowly and try to jump at you, but when they really try to get you they crawl faster and try to attack you from a different direction as you can see at 0:27 seconds. Make sure you put your sound up
And the marine was killed by the fact that your motion tracker tracks behind you as well. Stupid.
I tried watching Labyrinth before. The trolls scurred me. Couldn't watch.
I enjoyed the movie The Fountain just recently. Great soundtrack too. (Clint Mansell) Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it before.
Edit: I feel like watching Blade Runner all of a sudden...
