The Quake community is slowly dieing,I am 13 years old and everyone in my class hates Quake because it dosent got graphics like call of duty...Now it's time to fight Back!!!
We are going to create an email adress and a youtube account...We will release Covers of quake music,Quake speedrun,Pictures of our quake collection,Quake art and many other Quake/Doom related things.
Anyone like the idea?

...AND MAYBE EVEN A REAL QUAKE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

No...No one will know who that runs the youtube acc, it will just be someone that uploads movies...

some of the texture'ers, modders, map designers, lighting experts blahblahblah, bless their souls, havent even released their best work yet im sure, if graphics are what the kiddies want, they do exist, just have to shop around and experiment in your client and some know how to do more in depth stuff, in COD u can basically just change your crosshair color no ? that how it is in Battlefield... Quake's just too cool for most ppL, game recognize game...

But most people don't want to download things, or be bothered with trying to learn how to install them. I can't even get people to download custom maps for Alien Swarm, and some of these people are friends in real life and/or close intertubes buddies.

Being newb-friendly is a huge plus for any community expansion effort. We need more EZ installers... updated EZ installers for maps, EZ installers for textures and such...

foq one thing I'd like to see I mentioned previously would however need a reliable host that can handle the usage or make a big installer.
The idea I have I can't to do without a coder though.
Option 1: A interfaced "zip + installer"
Option 2: A interfaced "downloader + installer"

Basically the 2 would be the same. 1 would be having the files already inside - but would easily be a 3gb file. Option 2 would be the same but download the files from a server - keeping the initial download size down (but would increase bandwidth as changing hosts would be impossible - the first option can be uploaded at various locations).

Basically gather up all contents and also split them. So when you boot it up:
Quake
Scourge of Armagon
Dissolution of Eternity

will be the options. I will assume you choose Quake.
Now once you do that a option comes up with:
Normal Textures
QRP Textures
QRP Textures + Normals

Now selecting #1 is nothing installed. Option 2 will install "QRP-Tex.pk3". Option 3 will install "QRP-Tex.pk3" and "QRP-Tex-Norm.pk3"

After the enemies come up. Grunt first:
OoPpEe/Moo's Grunt
Reforged Grunt
Reforged Grunt (Ultra)
Fraggers Grunt

Then similar idea: 1 - "OoPpEe-Moo-Grunt.pk3" 2 - "Reforged-Grunt-H.pk3" 3 - "Reforged-Grunt-U.pk3" - 4 - "Fraggers-Grunt.pk3"

The installer would also need to do the reverse. Like if one re-runs the program. It would need to check for the same content and remove it. Like if one has my grunt installed - reruns and instead wants Reforged's grunt. It would delete mine and install theirs.
This of course is a idea I have but cannot execute as I cannot code it.

I think this idea though would be a huge benefit for the community. It however would need a update option WITHOUT having to download everything again as I don't think people want to download a 3+gb file again to get a few more models.


On the subject of this youtube account. I personally think it's a great idea, as when people view a movie the popup will come up asking them to view more of the users movies. Now with them all being Q1 related it will draw them in more and possibly get them QuakeOne installed again and join the QuakeOne.com community. It will only work if in the videos you do show the websites involved + in the notes. Not everyone reads the notes.

Just so when the attention is drawed to a single video, they click on more videos and volia there's all the videos based upon that game. If you have it scattered - more than likely to move on.

Fucking hahahahaha! Do you have any experience in any of those? You probably won't be allowed on YouTube because you're 13. No offense to anybody but I'm pretty sure Quake's time is way over. It's not dying, it's already dead.
