  • Painkeep update?

With the introduction of a new Quake Painkeep server in europe I was wondering if all you budding graphic artists out there had ever developed any new painskins, entity skins, textures, etc to try bring the mod up to date and make it more attractive to the fans of eye candy.

I think the new ammo boxes and so forth being released on this site for other areas of Quake really do look stunning and if something similar could be made available on a drop and go basis (e,g, same in a particular directory, fire up your client of choice and your good to go) for as many different clients as possible, it would really help to freshen up the look and feel. I've been working with a couple of euroquakers on a possible web resource to support this kind of thng but not being particularly artistic I need someone with some spare time with artistic flare who fancies the challenge something a little different.

Just a few examples of things that might be worth targetting...
    Gravity Wells:
    Autosentries:

    Lightning Gun and Airfist:
    Exploding Shells:
    Can O Beans:

I hope to be tweaking the mod slightly in the coming months (family and professional Life permitting) so if it were possible to include a few updated graphics it might be a good time to do it). Any takers?

    Kind regards

    Monty

Thanks LNL, much appreciated. If you spot any more examples please let me know as it I'd like to build up a convenient texture library that players could just drop in and play, ideally with any client.

      Kind regards

I mean, you could use some of the models from Painkeep Arena. The bear trap looks very similar to the original.

Forgive my graphical newbieness but would you happen to know if i need to do anything to make these useable within [Quake One] painkeep? Ideally I'm looking for a "drop and play" solution like your exploding shells. I tend to take the view that the easier and more versatile it is to use the more people will be willing to give it a go

          Many thanks

It's only 2 months later but what the heck:
Painkeep v2.0 beta (+Source) mod for Quake - Mod DB
That's a netquake mode I've never tried. That site is really hard to navigate, there is a newer one I think.

Tons of stuff on my server, read here: Weenieville Painkeep Server Mod
QW, source is linked, tons of maps in the 260mb zip.
