Aye, it looks great but it's not to my own taste. I've always found that high-res/high-detail content looks quite out of place in a Quake map. There's something of a visual clash going on, the overall look and feel loses coherence.

Agree'd with that. Many customizations lose the original feel or clash like you said. I will use the model packs for DooM. Many looked very cartoony.
For clashing it's often. Even my content clashes with the maps. It's partially why I made most of my content based around QRP's textures (using and then editing them to work on the model). So then it becomes fitting in the map as visually it's the same style. However even so, it still clashes.

I do personally like how Seanstar's mod is coming along though. It'd be nice to play Quake with the whole DooM 3 feel to it. DooM 3 lacked the old style gameplay but had the creepy feeling to it. Seanstar's mod seems to merge the 2 nicely.

You using a command similar to half-life's gl_max_size? I used to use it and make it 8 lmao (then make the classes full team colored with their boots/gloves/hats/helmets a different color for each).

Ya, it's kinda fun to take hi-res textures at 512x512 resolution and limit them down to gl_max_size 128 or 64, for a polished retro look.

I used, in this pic, gl_max_size 8 with gl_texturemode gl_nearest... the lightmaps are also mip'd

                hi

the only texture i use from rygels pack.

                hdr glows

i try to play stock quake...but i cant because i find its so blurry and plain that it cant pull me in like high def quake.

seeing my low quality video or screenshot is not the same as seeing the game running on a 47" @ 1080p

                regards

                Sean

Adding fog covers the skybox up so I cant quite get fog rain and nice skies yet
I have another idea to get around it and maybe get it all to work.
Qrack runs better on lower end hardware than the Hi Res Pimpdaddy you got goin on there Pornstar.
I only wish I had that kinda Hardware!

Thanks again for posting your pictures everyone!

I really enjoy seeing how everyone's Quake looks. Keep those pictures coming.
(But only if you want to, of course. )

EDIT: It's not a picture, but I've been trying to record a few Quake video's for fun lately. I hope if it's okay if I show one.
