  • Confederate Cemetary

My brother and I went by a few state parks around Montgomery today.

One of them was Wind Creek Park, which is a big lake. Really cool, could be a great place to stay in a cabin sometime.

Another we went to was Horseshoe Bend, which is a part of a river where a historic battle took place between Andrew Jackson's army and the Creek Natives. This was great....aside from the fact that the park closed in 30 minutes so we had to do a "quickie" visit of the park.

The first one we went to, though was cemetary we've visited before. It's got old graves for Confederate soldiers.

I took a few pictures of them:

"J. W. Patterson", I took for my dad because he really likes James Patterson's books.

"Robert Booker Wingo", thought this was a great name.

"W. A. Shanks", took this one because of a character from an anime I like is named Shanks.

And of course, I didn't forget all of you Quake Players, so I took these just for you:

There were at least seven of them (probably more but I didn't look at every grave, but I did see seven in total). I used this name at one time for a month or so but there were a lot of people that did as well, so I went back to QuadRaptor.

I dont doubt they are, but most Confederate gravestones are pointed at the top, because they didnt want those damn yankees sittin' on their graves!

Those civil war movies are interesting, but sad. My brother has a 6 DVD set from the History Channel. I thought it would be boring, but actually I very much enjoyed watching it.

A well made documentary can do a very good job of explaining what/how things happened the way they did and why/how a series of events leads to an eventual outcome.

"Robert Booker Wingo", thought this was a great name.
      Booker is a good name.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Here are a few more pics from the "rest" of our adventure:

Two pics from Wind Creek Park of the lake. It's a pretty big area.

Under the bridge leading towards Horseshoe Bend Park. Note those odd pillars to the left - that's the remains of the first bridge they built.

A close up of the former bridge.

Actually in the park, this is a shot of that same bridge but from far away.

Both of these are from another area. This is where the Creeks canoed across to defend the area. I was amazed that my camera took these in such good quality.

This field is actually where the Creeks had a village before the battle.
