If you dont have birthday the next days and do not want to wait till christmas...
... you can buy it now. It is "summer sale" and you get 15% discount.

I dont have/use steam, so I dont know if the advertised "improvements" are worth 8,49 Euro.
But if you are a fan of this game, you should try it I guess.

Well for one thing, this port can run on modern systems and that it seems like it doesn't crash unlike SWP where it crashes and corrupts my saves A LOT.
As for DOSBOX: the game seems to run slow for the emulator even if i tinker with the settings.
I am like a stray dog, lost in between what I do and what I should do.
But sometimes, all you need is Imagination.

        @shambler
try setting the in-game resolution to 800x600
and in dosbox_swarrior.conf set 'fullresolution' to your monitors native resolution,
and set 'scaler' to normal2x (or normal3x if you run at higher then 1920x1200)

and you'll get great performance at high resolution

        .

ive tinkered with dosbox with this game and other games which use SVGA-modes before,
and if you set the in-game resolution higher then 800x600 you'll indeed get bad performance.
but setting in-game resolution to 800x600 and then setting dosbox resolution to your desired resolution instead
will give you great performance and the visual will be pretty much the same
        .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
        > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread
