Update: Alas. As we suspected (see our note at the end of the original story), it appears that this wonderful tale was too good to be true. We've been tipped that the original post was actually a joke, and that it was subsequently taken too seriously by the Internet - and, well, us. Apologies for those who found hope in the tale, but we still feel there may be a lesson in it for humanity, somewhere. Put down the guns, Quake 3 aliens, robots and killing machines. All you need is love - and a taste for viral internet humour.

Haha. That's funny.
I agree; that is very funny.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mean to hijack this thread. I don't want to slide off-topic, but when you bring up the topic of Quake 3, an old debate comes to mind... Unreal Tournament vs. Quake 3... Which game is better and why?
Final thoughts:
Quake 3 has defeated Unreal Tournament. Yes, UT has more game types than Quake 3 (i.e.: assault, domination, last man standing, and insta-gib). BUT I prefer quality over quantity. Quake 3's deathmatch was so much better than UT's deathmatch. UT did not have any acceleration pads. All of UT's weapons had secondary fire and that slowed down the pace of the game. [In deathmatch, you're supposed to spend less time thinking and more time fragging.] Yes, Quake 3's maps were small, but this allowed the pace of the game to speed up. Unreal Tournament tried too hard; this is why Unreal Tournament lost.

UT lost? Why? Unlike Q3 It's had several successful sequels. I'm not even sure why there's supposed to be a competition going on.

I've played plenty of UT maps with jump pads.

So fragging isn't about tactics and thinking? I'm not sure how having additional flexibility trough secondary and tertiary fire modes are a bad thing.

line is almost a painful experience these days, at least quake 3 has some decent servers still. :v
hmm, last time I checked I had the opposite problem, but that's admittedly a while ago. Q3 has the benefit of being open sourced though, and QL is pretty cool.
