Hello,
anyone else can remember about this very old "gem"?
Just stumbled about the Jewel-Case and I remembered I played this in the time I got my first own home....

For me this is Heretic/Hexen in topdown/roguelike.

mageslayer is fun

i used to own the original disc of it myself.
sadly seem to have lost the disc some time

but was a fun game. just like [email protected] said, its like hexen or such, with topdown style graphics like gta2.


should pick it up again some time. wonder if it would work on win7 x64

"Mageslayer" is for Hexen fans what "Take no prisoners" is for Doom fans.
Isnt it amazing...

These were the ages, where the games front-cover looked like "Whooow" and the game itself looked like "Hmmm"
I remember myself visiting underground game stores where you could rent a game, looking at covers for hours.
That was the time where Hexen 1 came out and I bought it for 55 Marks.
I will never forget this day


... talking about these good old games.
Do you remember Witchaven 1 and 2 ? They never made it to the top scores/ranks, but these games had a lot of potential and had a nice fantasy ambience (which we both like so much)

If it runs on XP it also usualy runs on XP-Mode of your Win7 64-bit.
That is why this XP-Mode exists. Dont confuse it with "compatibility mode" !
I just tested Mageslayer and it runs without issues on XP.

Hello Seven,
I played them both (Witchaven 1&2) several times and I liked them very much.
The movement is not very good but the ambience and visual is great.

As far as I can remember WH uses a pre Duke Build Engine. I wonder why there isnt a source port yet.

And I can remember I spent some years of my life in such underground gamestores doing similar things like you did!

Mageslayer had a cheat code to go in "FPS Mode".
But this hasnt worked for me.
I have to install this beauty again tomorrow....

Looks interesting. I still gravitate to the older games as I seem to "connect" with them much easier than I do the new ones now. I do like the new games but I feel something different with older games.

Whoa how did I miss this?

Unfortunately I'll never have the free time again like I did "back then" to enjoy this game even though it looks like Gauntlet/GTA and Quake 1 (3 games I love) mashed into one awesome game.

Makes me wish I was 16 again! Fvck I feel old now!
