kinda funny though how the world whole goes nuts over a simple level-maker/editor,
while thats far from anything new and isnt anything revolutionary either.
developers have been giving gamers modding-tools for ages,
and people have been making their own levels for games for ages, also for mario-games.
just look at kaizo mario for example, a set of custom insanely hard levels for mario world.
or if you want a more recent example, check out 'newer super mario bros',
which is a level-pack for new super mario bros for wii
and developers have been giving modding tools with games for as far back as the existence of gaming.
why does the world suddenly go nuts now that nintendo finally decides to give their players modding-tools?
its not like as if they're doing something new or revolutionary
you're missing the nostalgia factor, which is what will drive this product. Making maps niche? Minecraft cornered that market.
Making your own Mario levels? Tons of moms and dads used to be kids / gamers. When I seen it, making my own mario maps wouldn't be about making maps. ArrrCeee gets it. In Mario 1 you could get 99 lives by timing a shell jump on steps and riding it infinitely to 99 lives dying at 100.
