I don't know, I don't remember seeing a flashlight attached in any weapon in the alpha videos on youtube, but the only things I know from Doom 3 alpha are from these videos, so, maybe yes...

DooM 3 did have the flashlight in the leaked beta attached to all guns.
In my opinion though - I figured most of the weapons SHOULD of been able to have a flashlight attached to them via weapon attachment. That'd mean you need to find it for each weapon OR even the simple ability to hold a weapon out with one hand (can't be fired) while holding the flashlight out. See a enemy the flashlight will quickly holster and the gun would be brought but with both hands. Each would have varied speeds to switch. Pistol pretty much instant. Shotgun - very quick. RL/Chaingun very slow.
That or my biggest annoyance in DooM 3
why the f*** doesn't this high tech base have NO flares available to use? That'd would of been a very nice alternative to the above. Lighting up a area for awhile before you run into the dark void.

That's not true, Quake 4 wasn't dark.
ETQW got made after Q4, and had even better hardware available and no singleplayer, thus could afford large outdoor areas and more light.
It's simple.

I'm playing a lot of Doom 3 recently. Over time, I have tweaked a number of things to make the game a bit more enjoyable for me. If there's interest, I could actually do a release.
It is not a graphical mod, it only concerns gameplay.
- Walk and run speed raised.
- Pistol damage and rate of fire raised.
- Machinegun rate of fire very slightly raised.
- Grenades toggle-able (like flashlight).
- A bit lower ammo carrying capacity but amount of ammo in certain boxes raised (bullets!)
This mod results in faster gameplay and more useful pistol/grenades. At the same time you've got to manage your ammo better and use the weapons you got ammo for.
Any more ideas? I debated adding a flashlight to some weapons, but it kinda breaks Doom 3's intended gameplay and I find I can get by without weapon-mounted lights.
I can probably add corpse stay, but tbh that doesn't really bother me - I'm not the type to shoot at corpses all the time.

And Hexen Edge of Chaos is being standalone project they work with doom3 sources.
Have a quick idea in mind, Janisl has experience in both hexen2 and doom3 dvelopment, so he know about hexen edge of chaos? I guess he can be interested. I cannot find ways to write him.

i watched doom the movie on tv the other day and was laughing at how horrible it was and it made me kinda miss the game. so i installed and patched it up, added some lines to an autexec.cfg so i could run it at 1920x1080 (for the first time ever).
i also installed Dentons Enhanced Doom 3 Mod v2.02 i found on filefront, it adds a tog-able flashlight attachment to the shotgun, proper debris from diff things you shoot, better explosions and better lighting. all around im def gonna give it another full play through cause im having the best fun with it that ive ever had.
kinda wish there is a bigger selection of mods out there on a site like this, but for doom 3. Quake is still more fun, especially with all the enhancements that this site provides, but im glad i found doom 3 again.
did do two playthroughs of Rage also, and i liked it but thought it had a small amount of content for how long it was in development.. it would be awesome with a half dozen more missions like dead city

wow those textures look awesome! he references using parallax occlusion mapping with them.. how do you enable that in doom 3? and relief mapping? how are these features acquired/turned on?
ok i did some scrounging and am now using sikkmod v1.2, Monoxead's high-res texture pack and Wulfen's high-res texture pack... its not compatible with the a fore mentioned mod Dentons Enhanced mod.. but thats ok cause this is much more meaty, and dentons mod def changed the game quite a bit. the three im using now is almost purely cosmetic. very awesome textures tho and great new graphics options that i never thought i would see in doom 3. i found them all on doom3world forum siteLast edited by kreaper; 02-21-2012, 11:27 PM.
