It's now free-to-play like QuakeLive. I suppose this is a new business model, something like shareware was back in the day.

I bought Half-Life back in 99 and got all the mods like TF2 Counterstrike
Natural selections and tons of others FREE because they were devels of it!
Best buy I ever made. TF2 is CTF with classes.

You know what else is like CTF with classes? FvF, in Purge mode... although it's more like Domination mode in UT'99. Generally, the object is to capture the altar, where a single artifact spawns, which when picked up, turns that player into a Diety, who has the ability to grant his team certain "blessings", such as a boost to health or ammo. There is only one Diety, so the object of the game is to fight for control over the altar, and keep the Diety on your team.

Sounds purge mode was based on the game Purge. Fun game (well back when people played it)

The TF game that came with Half-Life in 1999 was Team Fortress Classic. Team Fortress 2 is a completely different game based upon the Half-Life 2 engine. I was a TFC junkie lol (I admin'd the Custom-TFC.co.uk site)

I tried to play TF2 whenever it was made free. However, i didnt last long playing it. I guess is not my type of game. I tried with all the classes and none felt right to me, so I simply stopped playing. Too slow I guess, and yes, I tried the scout
