Just played through the first FEAR again, I only played through it once before but the game itself is really fun. I love the firefights - I'm usually against tactical games but with the slowmo and martial arts-styled punching and kicking it really is a fun game, and the soldier AI is still some of the most intelligent I've seen in a game. It didn't really scare me like it did back in 04 but it still had a lot of atmosphere and at least was pretty creepy.
It's a shame they didn't push the bar as much in the sequels as the original did. It was quite a system killer at the time, like Doom 3, and it shows in how every light source produces a shadow, and every bullet produces some sort of debris that fills up a room after a firefight. Plus it's just very satisfying to shoot enemies.
Not the best game ever, it's a bit repetitive with level design but pretty solid IMO with a good story and the combat makes it worth it, plus it has great ragdoll physics and it's super gory.

What do you guys think of FEAR 1?
