Evilution or Plutonia?

Anyone else here think that Evilution is better than Plutonia? For some reason Plutonia gets all the love. It's definitely more challenging, even on 'Hurt Me Plenty', but being challenging isn't the only factor in a games quality.

Both had some bad maps, but Evilution's best maps are, IMO, far better than Plutonia's best maps. Also, Plutonia was just so monotonous (some people like to use the word "consistent"). Evilution had a lot of diversity and was more aesthetically pleasing.

I could even say Evilution rivals Doom II, but those are fightin' words so I won't.

I don't remember Evilution that well but Doom 2's late game levels were an incoherent mess.

Harsh, but Doom 1's level design was a lot more consistent, and coherent - so if you were comparing it to late game, I would probably agree with you.

evilution trumps DooMII's maps anyday and is the best ever official release of the original DooM's...

However if you want the best ever single map I'd say it was from plutonia (map 29 'oddessy of noises') I just love it, in fact i just wish it had been in tnt instead of plutonia but thats just the way it goes.

still for homemade wads darken2.wad is without a doubt the best i've ever seen...

agreed. I'm playing through Plutonia 2 and Whispers of Satan atm. WOS is FANTASTIC. I'm on lvl 29, I don't want it to end...

I played through a little of Darkening 2, maybe I need to give it another chance.
