Anachronox has the most brilliant humour I've ever encountered in a video game.
The game takes its time to develop characters and setting, but when it finally start cracking jokes, they hit hard.
I generally don't care much about humour, I hate comedies, I almost never laugh, but this game made me literally lol few times.
It was developed at ION Storm at the same time as Deus Ex and Daikatana.
It runs on Q2 engine. Tom Hall was a project lead and this name should ring a bell
It is also the worst game I've ever forced myself to play for extended period of time. It is a “western jrpg”.
Banal, shit, boring and piss easy turn based combat that drags forever and level design that force you to waste a lot of time on pointless running.
I could stand it only because there is a fan patch that allows to speed up game with keys shortcuts, so I could fast forward running and combat animations.
The sheer amount of pointless combat alone makes it still a terrible game and the bad probably outweight the good.
It is the funniest shit I've ever played, though.
If you are a GOG junkie like me, maybe you too want to take an advantage of Square Enix promo and add Anachronox to your collection
Quake HD: Embrace the decline and have some guilty pleasure with it, or join a club for monocled gentlemen at quaddicted and play Quake the way it's meant to be played.
it so chockfull of bugs and the physics are so stupid that its hilarious as can be. like traffic signs on the road are apparently unmovable and made of solid granite, while cop cars are light as paper and go flying hundreds of meters upon hitting them
and you can literally fall of the edge of the world XD
