Think about it: What causes people to buy video games? What causes people to buy PC games? What is the "it factor"?

I think that originality is the main idea... Think about it... Doom, Half-life, Quake... These games were successful because they were original. Developers should always try to come up with some new ideas. Something that is totally wacky and even crazy. Something that we wouldn't think of in a million years.

You might have games with really advanced guns... You might have the "BFG 16k", you might have the "shrink ray deluxe". But if you don't have an original game, you are just playing a simple video game. Food for thought.

yes indeed. part of what makes me play a game over and over again is originality.

and its great to just jump into a game and submerge yourself into a completely different world full of monsters and aliens or such. getting away from reality and being in a completely different world which is much more awesome and evil or cute and cool.

and of course the fact that you can do so much awesome stuff which you cant do in rl. a big reason why i hate all those army shooters and 'realistic' games. if id want realism id turn of my computer and return to reality. when i play a game i want to have something fun and epic and awesome which is completely different from reality
