didnt even have to think about that for a sec. the parasite is just epic
freaky and totally awesome looking dog-like freak-things with huge long tongs which they zap you with and completely cyborg except the head

i think quake1 is a lot more fun, but on its own quake2 is most definietely a great game too. it is indeed very different from quake1 in every aspect, but its a great game too.
different doesnt necesarily equal crap.
i like quake2 a lot too cuz i like scifi stuff too and always been interested in robots and cyborgs, and some of the quake2 weapons are unique and cool too

I've said this before - Quake 2 is a much better game than Quake 1. Of course Quake 1 has the unique gothic/messed-up atmospherics which are more enjoyable than Quake 2's military/sci-fi/industrial leanings, but in every other category - map quality, models, gameplay, technology - Quake 2 is better.IT LIVES! http://directq.blogspot.com/Comment
