  • Video games are books (in my opinion)

Long before the existence of television and the internet, books have allowed people to use their imagination and explore new worlds. (E.g.: A knight saves a princess from a fire-breathing dragon, explorers discover a mysterious village on a snowy mountain, etc.) Well, the same idea applies to video games.

Strange philosophy: I think that video games are books. Would you agree with me?

what you are refering to (i think) is the evolution of our intereaction with media. In books we could read and imagine. On tv we can actually see the picture instead of imagining it. Now in video games not only are we able to see the world we are in, we are able to interact with it and change it.

If a story is being told, sure. Some games have multiple endings, thats winning.

Video games are video games. If you said "video games are the modern equivalent of books", then perhaps you might have a point. However, we still have books, so maybe "video games are the natural successor to books" might be more accurate. Also, not everyone plays video games, and being able to play games does not give you an advantage in society like reading/writing does. If anything, playing video games could even go against you in a job interview or chatting up a potential partner, where being literate is an advantage in these scenarios. So no, video games are NOT books, at all....

Video games, like movies, leave a lot less room for imagination.

They're the evolution of games, not of written stories.

Have you played a modern RPG such as Witcher 2 or Skyrim, out of curiosity?

These are epic tales brah. It takes just as much imagination to write a book as it does write a game. SRSLY.

FU guys im gonna go watch Reading Rainbow brah. <3 lol

Well I am agree to some extent with this statement that video games are books as these increase the knowledge and help you to understand basic details of computer. And of course these provide you great entertainment. But there should not be misuse of it.

i guess you could say that video games are more about interaction than books are.
