If you compare the color curves, original DOS Quake has less colors and thus not a "fluent" curve, but the colors it has ARE more diverse.

This is a nonsensical comparison and you know it. You're comparing monetary worth of a supposed real object to taste and opinion towards some screenshots on the internet.
If you like the CryEngine shots, good for you. I don't like how they look and that's all I said. I don't see the big deal with it.
I am having a hard time understanding what exactly you're expecting, from a game that consists of nearly 100% the various colors that are found in piles of poop. I am 100% sure you could create finger paint art using different shades of shit and still remain 100% faithful to what Quake1 originally looked like.

Thats because its rampant with browns, darker browns, and more shades of browns. The color's you choose in multiplayer Quake1 offer more "Color" than any other aspect of Q1.

The gold figurine was a joke. A fun poke , nothing more

Need to check your radar, lil bro. That was sincere. I know it is hard to believe that I can actually be serious, as-well-as agree with someone (lol), but I actually meant what I said.

Don't compare 8bit color to 24bit color and use RGB instead of average luminance for color.

Mindz says ; Isn't my picture ,didn't upload it. I did color counts on the screenshots and posted my results a few posts back. I just displayed the image because InkShock didn't.
