I've always wondered about this - Maybe it's already been documented. Anyway, there's a part of the song "Tournaquiet" (sp?) by Marilyn Manson, towards the end where it sounds like one of the monsters from quake "moaning" i guess is the best way to describe it. I always thought that whenever I heard the song and then it dawned on me that Reznor produced that record and I wondered if there was any corrolation or maybe I'm just hearing things....

I would argue that this might belong in chat-o-rama, regardless, I will give the song a listen when I get home, I tend to pick up on sampled sounds.

Right around 3:10 ? Sounds like a modulated clip of a guitar sample... or just straight synth, if its from Quake it is HEAVILY altered, Im not hearing anything familiar in that.

If you want great Quake music that uses Quake sounds, look no futher than:

          Jackhole Fighting Yugo.mp3

Jackhole being he who runs GameStatus.Net and QuakeBoard, and Yugo2Heck being, among other things, the admin of the IHOC servers.

If you want more serious Quake music:

          Quake2.mp3

Although it sounds like the words "Quake 2" occur twice or 3 times in that. Maybe someone can edit out the "Quake 2" so it's just "Quake" .. heheh

...this question always comes up with id games.

id used stock sound effects almost all the way up until Doom3, so if you've heard it somewhere else, dont be surprised.

Yep, I remember that, there's a cat that emits the distinctive Q1 zombie sound. I guess our loveable friend zombie evolved from a cat.
